The Voice of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Democrats in Southern California.

Article II: PURPOSE

A: We have formed the ERDC to work with allies and within the Democratic Party and allies so that lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders shall be fully and equally represented within the community and the national body politic. ERDC is open to all who subscribe to our goals and purposes, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

B. It shall be our purpose to make the Democratic Party and its elected officials responsive to the needs of all people, particularly, though not exclusively, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and feminist communities.

C. We shall seek to eliminate discrimination based upon sexual orientation; gender, and gender identity; promote human and civil rights; and further economic and social justice for all people.

D. Further, we shall seek to promote legislation in conjunction with our goals and purposes, and to oppose legislation that oppresses and/or restricts basic human rights.

E. We firmly believe that we have a responsibility to ourselves and to humanity in general to affirm our role within the political arena.

F. In pursuit of our goals, the ERDC will work within the Democratic Party and with other institutions and allies.
