In the large areas, I some times punch a fill oposit the top fill direction,
as underlay. with a 40 point desnity, like underlay. really tacks down the
backing.
Ive been digitizing since 87. Ive tried it all! I had part in digitizing the
3rd place full back in the 1998Stitches Magazine contest. I was responsible
for the digitizing of the Truck, the Applique, and the Air brush background in
the Phantom Leasing design.

Andy:
What kind of fabric are you embroidering on? What direction is the
fill going?
If you are working on a knit fabric with a fill that is going vertical (or
nearly vertical), you need to run the following underlay:
An edge walk about 0.5mm inside the edge of the fill area, followed
by a light density fill (about 10 stitches per inch or about 15% of
normal density) at a 45 degree angle; then another identical fill
running at the opposite 45 degree angle. In other words, when
looking at the underlay, you will have a lattice effect. These
underlay fills should have a stitch length of 5-6 mm - you want the
threads to "float" over the ribs of the knit fabric. Do not put any pull
compensation into the underlay, only the top fill.
Put your fill on top of this underlay and see if that helps.
If this doesn't help your situation, write back with the specifics of
your job.

Andy,
In the first place, you should check your density, sometimes taking some
stitches away from your fill will release the tension. Another thing to
watch is underlay, usually your underlay stitches should be perpendicular to
your fill stitches, and you can play with densities of both your underlay
and your fill stitch until you solve your problem.
Finally, if nothing seems to work I would suggest you to fill that area with
several layers of very low density tatami rotating the direction 45 degrees
for each layer.
I hope this can help,
Alejandro.

I am struggling with a large area of fill stitch that has a tendency to
curl.
I have tried several different techniques to minimize this curling problem
with limited success.
Would anyone care to share some techniques that may help?

Hi, I agree with you about ICQ! I use it to keep in touch with my family,
which is spread out across the USA! We have had as many as 11 people on at

Hello,
AOL IM is OK for just talking but if you really want a useful tool then get
ICQ. With ICQ you
can send emails back and forth while your both logged on...it is almost
like a chat. They also have a chat screen that you can type in "Real"
time....you can
actually see your chat partners words type out...mistakes and backup
corrections.
There are a bunch of colors and fonts and sizes to personalize your chat
window. You can get
info on your chat buddy and if you want to transfer a file to them then all
you need to do is right click on the file on your hard drive, select "Send
to ICQ User",
choose the user and as your sending the file, your buddy is receiving it!
No
email attachments!! Great for digitizers who send files over the internet.
There is also much, much more.
It's so good that AOL just bought out ICQ....which means what??? They found
something better
than AOL IM!!?? I think so.
To get ICQ go to http://icq.com home page.

Hello
My name is Ed Evans, I've been digitizing since 1987. I started at an
athletic awards company, drawing patterns for hand machine chain stitch
and
chenille. Then, learned the drawing side of digitizing. The Wilcom
Micro-Ceed
system was the system of the day, and is where I got my start. For years
now,
I've wanted to start my own digitizing business. In '98, I had part in
digitizing the 3rd place full back in the Stitches Magazine contest. I
was
responsible for the digitizing of the Truck, the Applique, and the Air
brush
background in the Phantom Leasing design. Since then, the wheels have
been
turning, and I have my own Equipment. Now, it's time to start looking
for a
customer base.
I am punching on an Eds II system, and Proofing on a 9 needle Brother
single
head.
I use no "STOCK" lettering. We punch ALL lettering at no extra charge. I
don't
like the connections or the clips from most stock fonts. I am proficient
in
color blends and light fill shading. Heavy equipment, cars, and graphics
are
my specialty! I use as many stitches as it takes to get the look I want,
and
don't cut corners in my digitizing. I am an artist first, digitizer 2nd!
I can
read/write to Melco, Tajima, Barudan, and Toyota formats. Having an art
background, I can help take an idea from stick figure sketch to finished
Embroidered product. My prices are $85.00 for a standard crest design.
Simpler
designs are negotiable. Full backs are at $250.00. Generally, about
10.5
inches in width. I don't price by the stitch, and feel that most who do,
pack
the unnecessary stitches in to up the price.
At Graphics Pit Stop, We also offer Vinyl lettering, Signs, and a
complete
Art/Design service for screen printing. We can create original art, or
take
your floppy, Zip, Optical, or E-mail digital art and work with it. We
are
using Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop for the Mac. I have attached to
this
letter, a Jpeg of the 1st proof of the 3rd place winning design to show
the
quality of my work. Feel free to visit our web site,
http://www.angelfire.com/in/Graphics Pit Stop/, although it is under
construction.
Thank You, &
Hope to be working with you soon!
