Greetings beautiful people,
We are working hard to bring the drum circle community another weekend of drum
circle excitement! WE have some updates to tell you about.
Paralounge Drum Gathering
October 16-18, 2009
At the Cerveny Conference Center in Live Oak Florida on HWY 90.

We have a very full schedule. We have lots of drumming activities for the
entire family. Jana Broder,of Drum Magic, will have her fleet of drums available
for those who would like to participate and need a drum.
Buddy Helm will be returning. Buddy has a large fan base at the Paralounge and
everyone always looks forward to his workshops.Ken Anoff will be present to
instruct a couple of advanced workshops. Ken will instruct advanced finger
techniques that can be used on the Doumbek, Tabla, and other drums. This
workshop is sure to be challenging and improve your intimate playing abilities.
Be sure to visit the www.paralounge.net website and take a look at the schedule
of workshops and performances.
Accomadations at the new venue. Cerveny Conference Center is a beautiful
facility on over 530 acres of pristine Florida woodlands. The facility is owned
by the Episcapol Church but is not a religious institution. The facility is open
to open to any responsible event. White Lake is at the center of the property
and can be seen from the Conference area. It has been a lot larger but has
suffered a bit from recent drought. It is still a large lake, but when the water
comes back, it's a really big lake.
The primitive camping is around 10 acres of manicured land, under large hammock
of oaks. There is a bathhouse with hot water and showers and toilets. If
everyone is responsible, folks can find a nice spot, set up their campsite, then
park their cars in the field adjoining the campsites. That way everyone can fit
under the shaded areas. Once the primitive campsites are full, everyone else has
to overflow into the field. You can find shade, but the Cerveny does not allow
fires outside of the primitive camping area. So, while you may find a
comfortable spot in the field, you will be asked to not have a fire there. Our
community has always been very organized in the past and we can see no problem
here.
Those who park seperate from their campsites will have the benefit of using
their vehicle to get to the event area easier. The Cerveny is a retreat and
conference center, they are not set up for concerts or festivals. The event area
is a short walk from the primitive campsites. The drum circle will be in the
center, between the camping and the event area. We will have a secure room in
the conference center, so if you want to leave your drum there in between
workshops, then it will be secure and you don't have to carry it back and forth
to your campsite or carry it around with you during a break or meal.
There will not be a food vendor at the event. The Cerveny has a professional
Chef and a dining area will be available. You may bring your own food and cook
it. Make sure you get in the desgnated campsites so you can have a firepit to
cook with, or bring a grill. BUT...if you would like to eat a buffet style meal
in the AC and dine with your Paralounge family, then be sure to look at the
website www.paralounge.net and see how you can reserve you meals with the
Cerveny. All meals must be paid for in advance! We have the full menu and
schedule posted on the website. We made sure there is vegetarian foods
available. We are very excited to have this option. It will provide a closer,
more interactive, experience for the community. The meals are only $8.00 per
meal! Check out the menu. It is very much worth it.
A major change for the Paralounge. We have always let children 12 and under in
for free. We like it that way. We want everyone to attend, especially with their
children. The Cerveny Conference Center charges for children 3 and up. The
facility is heavily used as a summer camp to thousands of children. So the
Paralounge has to pay for each child on the premises. They were kind enough to
charge us half their normal rates. But we still have to pass that expense on and
begin charging for children to attend. We apoligize. The admission charge is
exactly what the Paralounge is responsible for, with no profit gain, it is
strictly a facility charge.
Visit the www.paralounge.net website to purchase early admission and save on
the price!
At the gate: $55.00 per person / Children 3 - 12 are $15.00
The price includes primitive camping October 16,17 2009. The price also includes
all workshops and performances.
The Paralounge has a huge conference center available for dining...and.. indoor
workshops! We have the option of airconditioned workshops! The Paralounge Drum
Gathering is a rain or shine event! Send me your opinion! Do you prefer an
indoor, air conditioned, workshop? Would you prefer an indoor performance? Let
me know. I'm setting up the logistics, it's your event, that's why it's known as
a drum circle family re-union, your opinion counts!
Remember. No food vendor. If you want to eat from the buffet, you must pay
prior to the event. Make reservations for meals right away. The price is great,
the food will be good, and you don't have to cook or clean.
RV sites are available. Upgraded camping sites are available. Lodging is
available. They have very nice rooms available.
If your looking to have a pampered weekend, then I would suggest. Get a room
and reserve all the meals. Then you just show up with your drum! That's it.
Welcome to the Paralounge Drum Gathering & Rhythm Retreat!
In the Spring we plan to get the other half of the property. That's where the
conference center with the built in stage and sound room is! The canoe launch is
over there too.
I hope you are doing well on your side of the universe. I look forward to
seeing you all in October.
Safe Journeys,
Clint
