This list exists for the discussion of all aspects of the books, films and other material featuring Doctor Syn. This character, created by Russell Thorndike, was Rector of Dymchurch, but was also known as Captain Clegg, the notorious pirate, and as the Scarecrow, leader of a gang of smugglers on Romney Marsh. Among the topics discussed are:

My name is David and I am the list-owner. I was born on Romney Marsh and I now live in Liverpool. I first read and enjoyed the original "Doctor Syn" novel as a small child. It was an old hardback copy which belonged to my father. A few years later I realized there were other novels in the series when I saw them on sale in the local bookshop. I bought them all, one a fortnight, and still have them.

In summer 1999 I started a website about Doctor Syn. As a result, I received so many messages from other Syn fans that I decided to launch this mail list in January 2000. I hope that you enjoy being a member of this group.
