We received the following feedback on the calendar. I still wouldn't do anything different. I think the 4 designers who came up with another unique way of depicting the pink ribbon were very clever, but would be hard pressed myself to come up with a cloth using this theme every year.
What do you think? You are also the owner of this calendar.
Cindy

I purchased the 2009 and the 2010 BC calendar. The 2009 had mostly BC patterns, the 2010 has few if any BC patterns. I am just wondering why. The idea of the breast calendar was, to me, so that we would get new patterns for breast cancer, the 2010 does not have that and I wanted to know why.
Thanks
Elaine

And here's my reply.
The patterns in Calendar of Hope are all donated and each designer is allowed to design whatever she feels she knows best. The only requirement is that they be knitted in a shade of pink. This year we had 4 who used the pink ribbon theme. It isn't a calendar of just patterns that represent the pink ribbon, but a calendar of hope for those who have had and will have breast cancer.

I am a survivor and that's why I started the calendar. I wanted to give back the best way I could. I'm not wealthy but I am a graphic designer and can put together a nice calendar. Because of breast cancer research, I underwent minimal surgery and treatment. 15 years ago, I would have had a mastectomy and chemo.

All proceeds of this calendar will go to breast cancer research. I don't know if we will ever find a "cure" but I think we will find out "why" 1 in 8 women will have breast cancer.

I hope I'm still putting together the calendar when the "why" is found. Then pink will just be a color and a ribbon will be something to tie back your hair.

If you want to read my personal journal on how I faced breast cancer, please go to http://fitterknitter.blogspot.com/
