"Dharma Gaia" is a Sanskrit/Greek neologism coined by Thich Nhat Hanh (as a pun on "Dharmakaya" or the Body of Dharma). It means, roughly, "doing the right thing for the living Earth."
"Gaia" is the ancient Greek name for the Earth Mother Goddess, which has been adopted as a name for the scientific understanding of the Earth as a self-regulatory, complex adaptive system.
The DharmaGaia list is devoted to a discussion of the integration of spiritual practice (in any or all traditions) and the ecological healing of our planet that we must all undertake, in our various ways, in the coming years.
Welcome to the discussion. Please practice mindfulness and compassion toward others in your posts. If anyone flames, or otherwise deliberately insults people, such noxious posts will be weeded out.
May you all be well, do good work, and keep in touch. (With gratitude to Garrison Keillor, to whom I owe that wonderful mantra).
