JONATHAN EMILE MCCOY
alias Jon-E-Justice
Jonathan Emile McCoy is truly “some kind of
guy.” This expression was coined by his late Grand Dad John Mims when referring
to his grandchildren or any child who had an intriguing personality, wit, charm
or grace. For Jonathan this expression serves as a reminder to him that when he
does anything well, in his heart of hearts he can hear the voice of Grand Dad
John Mims giving his stamp of approval; “You’re
some kind of guy…” and compounding it with, “…and you’re handsome, too.”
Since he was a really little guy, Jonathan has
been intriguing, charming and witty. His parents presented to him the legacy of
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a man of faith first, and a civil rights
activist. When introduced to documentaries on Dr. King and his plight to bring
“justice for all”, Jonathan was inspired and soon became aware of promoting
peace. When he was 3 years old he watched a movie called “No More Baths” that
inspired him that any injustice, or being granted a privilege can bring about
change if a group will intelligently protest, boycott or petition an action.
While in 2nd grade Jonathan did just that when he incited a petition
to use hand washing prior to lunch instead of hand sanitizer. The school
enforced the use of hand sanitizer to avoid delay in getting in and out of the
lunchroom. When Jonathan’s teacher saw the petition of Jonathan and his
classmates he agreed to allow the children to wash their hands preferred to use
of hand sanitizing.
When he was months shy of turning 7 years old
Jonathan authored a speech on promoting peace and won 2nd place in
the 10-15 year old category because it was assumed he was 10 years of age.
After learning Jonathan’s true age he was given an award for first place along
with another child who had already been declared winner for the 7-9 category. He
was randomly chosen to be aired on the evening news of a Milwaukee news network when he insightfully
articulated what peace meant to him during the rally for peace sponsored by
Children’s Outing Association of Milwaukee, WI, who also sponsored the essay
contest.
Having learned to read ‘sight words’ at the
tender age of two has inspired Jonathan to indulge in one of his most favored
past-times; reading a good book. Jonathan began consistently recognizing and
reading various words at age 3. Before the end of the second quarter of his
kindergarten year, scholastic tests revealed that Jonathan was reading close to
a 3rd grade level with full comprehension of what he read. Reading has increased his
vocabulary, piqued his interest and propelled his intellect beyond his years.
Jonathan Emile McCoy is a native Milwaukeean
who loves to get back there to visit his friends as often as he can. There he
spends hours on end working on songs they have written and are hoping to one
day produce. He loves swimming, writing and visiting historical places.
He has 2 sites that he produced in January and February 2009 respectively. The kid
site is under construction for updates post 5th grade promotion. The
petition site was re-posted on YouTube mid June 2009.
Jonathan will celebrate 11 years of life this
September and is looking forward to having his first visit to Disney World in Orlando , FL. He completed 5th grade at Rock View Elementary in Kensington , MD this June and will be attending middle school this fall. Jonathan has
maintained a 3.75 or better GPA throughout his school years and has received
numerous awards, accomplishments and recognition for outstanding academic
achievement. He is the only child of Johnny and Linda Mims McCoy, his parents,
who are committed to giving him everything he needs to excel while teaching him
to appreciate and cultivate his God-given gifts (and talents) as well as the
tangible gifts he must ‘work’ to receive from his parents.
Jonathan currently resides in Germantown,
MD with his parents and will relocate to Atlanta , GA
this summer.

DOC Entertainment Filmworks &
Detroit 2 Los Angeles DET2LA
M L Davis, founder of the Motor City International Film festival returns home to Detroit to create more opportunities to produce films in Michigan ’s growing film community. DOC Entertainment Filmworks and David Mims of Detroit 2 Los Angeles DET2LA are
excited about expanding the transition as Hollywood Comes to Detroit .
The "Motown Rebound" is in effect due to automotive corporations and
massive job shifting to rebound. Davis and Mims are catalysts of the
new millennium for films made in Metro Detroit and throughout Michigan .
ML moved to Los Angeles in the late 70’s. Davis a Director, has worked in the capacity of Actor, Talent Agent/Manager, Literary Agent, Acting coach, Casting Director, and Producer. ML has cast several music videos with MegaLarge Entertainment ("Hypnotize" Notorious B.I.G., "To Live and Die in L.A." Tupac, just to name a few), and was the Casting Director for Master P’s No Limit Films , “I Got the Hook-Up” and “Foolish”. A huge list of comedians such as Kym
Whitley, Tommy Chunn, and Faizon Love: have successful careers from the
guidance of ML Davis. Mims worked as talent, personal fitness training
and entertainment security on various projections in the 90’s in the
same arena as Davis in Los Angeles .
M L established d8 Entertainment a Casting and Production Company in 1998 by casting the international and controversial hit video “Windowlicker” for AphexTwin
a British electronic music pioneer. Detroit 2 Los Angeles was
established in 1997 when David Mims begin promoting comedy shows in
Detroit and Los Angeles . Now ML DOC Entertainment Filmworks and Det2LA bring diversity to the new media of internet television, telephone movies, and mass internet publicity-marketing. DOC Entertainment Filmworks and Det2LA bring a wealth of experience when it comes to filming in Detroit .
Their capacities of expertise were, casting, marketing, directing, and producing on projects that include:
8 mile http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298203/,Official Sundance Film Festival Selection MVP http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0342717/ ,Project 313 The #1 Marketed Indie-Film In Michigan
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0773768/ ,and Envy http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462275/ Envy The Movie
M L returned to Detroit in 2001 from LA with David Mims of Detroit 2 LA, whom he was partnered with in Los Angeles at d8 Entertainment casting. ML’s casting expertise supplied Hollywood talent and production for Envy The Movie. Maia Campbell of “In the House” with LL Cool J, was provided as a strong female lead to support local talent that was already cast. National rapper AZ and R&B singer Chico Debarge were
the male lead actors. The Production was halted for a year due to lack
of funding and an inexperienced team. Desmond Walker the producer,
director of Envy contracted M L to return as a producer to complete the
project and they became the first all African American production using
the new Sony Cine Alta HD CAM 24 p HDW F-900 in Michigan. M L contracted experienced crew and DP Jeffrey T Brown and also recast the Detroit actors with Hollywood talent LisaRaye and Ray J.
ML orchestrated for the independent non union film to set the standard
for Hollywood quality productions shot in Detroit . As the production
wrapped M L was granted the opportunity with the assistance of David
Mims to cast two additional films with Hollywood production that were
filmed in Detroit . “MVP” www.MVPTheFilm.com starring Wood Harris, N’Bushe Wright, Obba Babatundé, Roger Guenveur Smith, and Detroit rapper Christian Mathis aka Trick-Trick and “8 Mile” starring Mekhi Phifer and Detroit national rapper Eminem.
ML started The Motor City International Film Festival, after
working two film projects at the same time. “ Detroit , a major
metropolis without a film festival was demeaning to me. Other cities
like Lansing and Ann Arbor had film festivals for years, and the Motor
City was without a platform to display filmmaker’s talents. “My
goal was to prepare the locals in Detroit for the influx of films that
were coming to Detroit " says Davis . "I knew Detroit was a viable
place to showcase talent, with equipment accessibility and locations to
shoot Hollywood style movies, without filming elsewhere to portray our
city."
ML is now producing a international cable Hip-hop news and Music Video show called "7 Mile 2 Belle Isle" with host PARELLEE, based in Detroit, and a Gospel Video show called “New Dimensions in gospel with Bobby Parker”.
He signed a 3 year deal with the Global Broadcasting Company where these shows will be airing internationally in Western
Europe, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Alto Adige province of Italy,
Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Denmark, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro and the UK.
M L has recently produced and casts numerous music videos and a
comedy feature, and DOC Ent & Det2LA have brought their expertise
to various markets around the nation to help diversify the growing TV
and film industry, while bring more opportunities to Detroit. Now with offices in Atlanta , Los Angeles , New York , Miami , and Detroit , DOC Entertainment Filmworks and Detroit 2 LA
are capable of managing production companies, filmmakers, actors and
artists, to bring their creativity to the national forefront.
