Greens interested in Coutu's seat on Norwich City Council

NORWICH - The Connecticut Green Party is interested in filling Christopher
Coutu's seat on the city council.

"I'll be in contact with our New London office within the next few days,"
said Mike DeRosa, co-chairman of the state party. "There are a few people I'
ll be reaching out to to see if they're interested in running."

Coutu, a Republican, resigned last week as required by the city charter
following his election to the State House of Representatives. Under the city
's minority representation rules, anyone but a Democrat may try and enter
the special election, which tentatively is scheduled for April.
