Derbyshire is a small port in an out of the way place that doesn't often get much attention. Most of the inhabitants are fishermen, sailors, or farmers not concerned with the greater doings of the world. The village itself would be nearly unknown if not for the two week festival they host every spring. The shire is officially ruled by Count Daniel, better known as Count d'Booty, but the Count interferes little in shire business.
Derbyshire, and it's Count, dislike court politics and maintain a typically neutral attitude towards other states. They show an equal amount of deference toward all nobility regardless of territorial allegiance. This makes the shire a good place for those with disputes to meet and diplomatically resolve their disagreements.
The shire maintains no armies and has only a token peace keeping militia, relying instead on the influence of the Count to deter any major threats. This has so far resulted in creating a very peaceful and friendly shire for it's inhabitants and visitors.
