UPDATED WEBSITE

The TCC website has a new look.  A team of volunteers has been working on this for a very long time and we would like to recognize and thank them for their hard work and continued commitment to this project.

• Delmer Johnson (Tango and RMSDC) developed the original site in 2001 and solely maintained the site for years. Delmer helped acquire install the new software for the site and he continues to have a lead role as a site administrator.
• John McClure (Ballroom) has done much of the coding and back end work. He continues to work on updates and at making the site more user friendly and he will also be working on site optimization strategies.
• Debbie Firestone (Ballroom) volunteered to learn how to use and  maintain the content management system.
• Bill Maddick (Ballroom) provided photos from all of the groups. He spent countless hours at the Turn with his camera.
• Sandra Genova (Salsa) Content writing, content management, overall project management. Sandi will continue to manage content for the site.

The site features photography from each of the clubs and from special events. Our focus is to show people having fun. We would like to keep the site fresh and we need your help. Send us photos for the group pages and for the home page. Make sure we have permission to use them.

COMEDY SHOW September 12

Comedy Fundraiser and Dance Bash the basement on Sept 12 at 9:00 pm. The comedy show features Deacon Gray and several other local comedians. The comedy event will take place in conjunction with the September Dance Bash. Attend one or both events. Dance Bash begins at 7 pm.

 

Tickets for the comedy show and dance bash will be available next week from Marina when the bar is open and from Max. Tickets will also be available at the door (checks and cash).

• Cost: $10 members $15 non-member (Comedy Show or Dance Bash)
• Cost: $15 members $20 non-members (to attend both events)

Community Photography Show and Silent Auction

 This is the second juried art show sponsored by the Turnverein Cultural Center. The medium for the show is photography and we are encouraging Turnverein members and area artists to participate. Participants are also being asked to consider donating at least one piece for a silent auction that will help raise money for future art projects. There is no formal theme for this show but we are offering ideas:

- Fun at the Turnverein—this might include candid shots, dance
   shots, etc.
- Transitions in Time—Moving from Fall to Winter
- Unique vacation adventures

Saturday October 10— Photography Show 
from 2-6 pm followed by a Dance Bash from 7—11 pm. 
Art will remain through November 7, 2009
Bids for Silent Auction items accepted through November 7.

Ballroom Dance Bash- August 8
7 PM to 8 PM Lesson in American Waltz by Brook Metcalfe
8 PM – 11:00 PM - General Dancing

DJ Carolyn Cattani will play the dance music, a mix of All Ballroom Dances (There are over 2,500 ballroom selections in the music library), as well as Salsa, Argentine Tango, Lindy/Swing, Hustle, and West Coast Swing and requests.

Suggested dress for this dance is dress to impress, comfortable dance attire.  The ladies are always elegant so gentlemen keep this in mind when selecting your attire.  Please bring and wear dance shoes to help preserve the newly refinished floor.  The Dance Cost is $10 per person for Turnverein members, $15 for Turnverein non-members, cash or checks, only. 

Renew or Join the Turnverein for 2009 and admission is FREE.   2009 Pro-rated Membership Rates: $29 single; $54 dual; $66 family; $20 student/senior (Cash or Check, ONLY).  Your membership fee helps support and maintains this beautiful dance venue! ALSO, we will have a trunk sale.  Bring your gently used dance shoes and clothes that you would like to sell.

Dance Admission price includes dance lesson, dancing, outstanding refreshments, and cash bar.
