Hi. Tuesday night, February 17th, three vehicles were broken into in
the Turnverein parking lot between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The board was
meeting downstairs during that time and many people were going in and
out of the building for the tango class and practica. Still, one of
the vehicles which was broken into was parked almost across from the
stairs!
One car was parked in the last slot next to the windows on the south
side of the building. One was parked in about the third parallel
space adjacent to the Fillmore parking lot.
All three vehicles had purses in the front passenger seat and had the
right passenger window broken out. As far as we know, all that was
taken was the three purses.
This is an unusual occurrence at the Turnverein, so this is just a
reminder to use common sense when parking almost anywhere: don't leave
any valuables in plain sight in the vehicle, even loose change; lock
them in the trunk, put them out of sight, or take them inside with you.
The board will be installing a camera surveillance system soon, which
was planned anyway, but anyone attending events at the Turnverein
should still take the same precautions.
