This group is devoted to the discussion of the philosophy of Deleuze and Deleuze and Guattari. The aim of this list is to provide a venue where the thought of Deleuze and Guattari can be discussed and explored so as to better arrive at an understanding of their philosophy. It is hoped that much of this discussion will focus on actual texts of Deleuze and Deleuze and Guattari and their relationship to other texts whether in philosophy or other fields so as to arrive at some concrete understanding of the problems and issues that motivate their thought, how their approaches deepen and complicate traditional approaches to philosophical thought, and to arrive at a more precise understanding of their concepts. Towards the end of promoting this aim, this list will be slightly moderated. Posts that pertain solely to personal projects such as poetry and fiction will not be posted. This is very unDeleuzian in one respect, but observing the breakdown of other lists devoted to Deleuze and Guattari and the lack of discourse that now occurs on these lists, it seems necessary if any forum on the thought of Deleuze and Guattari is to be possible. It is also asked that list members practice courtesy and respect towards one another, so as to promote open discussion and exploration. Posts that are of a highly combative and insulting nature, that show no courtesy or respect to other list members, will likewise not be posted. I would like the list to be as open and free ranging as possible, while avoiding some of the bitterness that has occured on other lists. Posts pertaining to the announcement of conferences, calls for publication, and new books relevant to Deleuze are welcome.
