Hi Teri!
I'm on this loop, but don't know if there are any other Southern Sussex
people here. It's kind of a quiet list and I've only received a few messages
here and there. We'll be getting together soon for our first meeting &
should send out a newsletter in a week or so with the date!

Hi,
I joined this group a while ago but could not recall if I did an
intro. I'm Teri I live in Seaford. I have been homeschooling my
children for 3 years. They are 6-5-3. This year I joined southern
sussex learning academy I have not had the pleasure of meeting anyone
from the group yet. If anyone here is part of that group please let
me know I would enjoy getting to know you. I have lived in seaford
for almost a year, sad to say I haven't met any homeschoolers in this
area. I am hoping to change that this year, my kids really need a few
good homeschooled friends.

I look forward to getting to know everyone better.

Many Blessings,
Teri

I am strongly recommending a book as a graduation gift or a basis for any
learning program. I am buying Success God's way for all our friends who
have kids graduating this year. I can't think of a better gift to get them
started in their adult life. I also recommend this book for parents who are
looking to answer some of the questions below. It was a very helpful book
for me!

Dr. Stanley's hits on positive thinking from the Christian perspective.
This book outlines "how to become a success, and shows you how these
principles are solid biblical truths! If you are looking to the answers to
the following questions this book is for you. Is it right for me to want to
be successful? Can I live a godly life and still be successful? Is God even
interested in me being successful? How do I do it?

Is there anyone interested in going to this year's faire? I went last
year and it was really worth the trip. This years faire will lead to
the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth I. If you are studying Shakespear
or that time period this would be an excellent cap on your year!

Hi Becky!
This is such a quiet list I forgot I was on it! Good to hear from you!

We have two girls too... ages 11 & 13. We've done a real mish mash of
curriculum. Mostly unit study with a Charlotte Mason flair. Some
"Wholehearted Child" influence also. We're trying to implement the Principle
Approach, but it takes a lot of self-study on Mom's part, so it's a little
here and there in reality. This year for us was really very
delight-directed, though we did accomplish lots of stuff when we look back.

We just nailed down our curriculum for next year... Prairie Primer for my
youngest (big time Laura fan... we did this curriculum when her big sis was
in 3rd grade and she was in 1st, so she doesn't remember & wanted to do it
again.) Our oldest will be doing Konos History of the World #1. She is
excited about the independence factor. I'm trying not to write notes all in
her book telling her what to do. THAT is hard, after 8 years of homeschool
planning! Having the girls work on separate things is something we haven't
done in a loong while.

Kim :-)

Hi all!

My name is Becky, and I already recognize a few of you from the
members page (Hi Sherry! Hi Kim!)

I am married to my high school sweetheart (22 years) Darrell, and
have two daughters: Amy, almost 20 and a sophomore in college in GA,
and Katie, who will be 13 on Sunday.

We homeschool using Charlotte Mason methods, and find it has freed us
up immensely on expectations and frustrations. We're a bunch of
bookworms around here, anyway, so it fits us well! :)

We attend the Dagsboro Church of God, where we are involved in many
ministries. We just concludes 8 weeks of revival, and plan to
continue it monthly as long as the Spirit directs. We got a new youth
pastor last week, and he is awesome! Very focused and organized. I
guess he needs to be... he has 6 kids!

Sherry, do you guys still do the stick ministry? It was awesome when
you did it for us! Masters Commision will be with us (I think their
stick ministry will be ministering also) on Easter Sunday for two
services... 8 and 10 AM.

Gotta run.... our 6 month old puppy has started having seperation
anxiety and cries and howls when crated at night... and it's driving
me BONKERS!

Blessings!

This page is for parents who are sending their kids off to college, or kids who are going to college.  These sites  below may help you save some money when you send them off.  If you have to buy textbooks, why not buy them online and save.  You can also get great school  supplies at Back to School Savings @Staples.com which has free shipping If they have to PayBills you can do that online. You can also get them a supply of checks at Deluxe  Checks or Checks Unlimited.  Now if they have to send bills, they will need  Stamps.com, but hopeful these are used to send letters to home! Now if they need Medical stuff and prescription drugs goto PlanetRx's Home Page.  Don't forget to check out  PowerBuy Center  where you can find some great buys on all kinds of stuff.  Searching for a cellular phone for them goto Sprint PCS and get them a great deal on a cell phone.  You can also Find A Cellular Service Plan In Your Area.   Need long distance services goto Sprint Nickel Nights.  Need to get them great travel deals so the trip to school or back home is less expensive goto  Travelocity.com.  If you need eyeglasses this link will help.  If you need to buy a computer try Compaq Delivery for great service.  If you Need More Memory for your computer this site will help you.  So they need a car for college-start at Carprices.com. This link is for some friends of mine who will be playing soccer in college Click Here for Soccer Field Equipment.  Oh yea-if they need to learn Microsoft Office Suite so they can be productive on their papers go to Learning 2000.

Rose,

I just joined Tri State last week. I have been in an umbrella group for three years, but have just decided to go out on my own.   We live at the other end of the state.  Near the beach.

I didn't feel I was really geting anything from the group. I do more with independant home schoolers then with the group.

How old are your children? Mine are teens!! (girls)  Most of our group was younger children. This will be our fourth year and I wish we had done it sooner.

Welcome Rose,

Here is the number for Tri State. They are a support group, not an umbrella group.  Just to let you know, you do not have to join an umbrella group. you can sign up with DOE as your own home school. They only require you to send in an attendance form. Tri State has a fairly full list of umbrella groups in their newcomers packet.

Many of you know that as a list moderator I do not sent out a lot of messages.  I only send them out when I have a great contribution to make

I am strongly recommending a book as a graduation gift or a basis for any learning program.    I am buying Success God's way for all our friends who have kids graduating this year.  I can't think of a better gift to get them started in their adult life.  I also recommend this book for parents who are looking to answer some of the questions below.  It was a very helpful book for me!

Dr. Stanley's hits on  positive thinking from the Christian perspective. This book outlines "how to become a success, and  shows you how these principles are solid biblical truths!  If you are looking to the answers to the following questions this book is for you.  Is it right for me to want to be successful? Can I live a godly life and still be successful? Is God even interested in me being successful?  How do I do it?

Subject: Hike/ Walk anyone?

Hi all,
My sons have discovered the trails at the state parks and are
determined to "hike" them all. So.... I'm inviting anyone who likes a
good walk to come and join us.
The plan(according to my son) is to have hiked/walked all the paths
in all the state parks by the end of summer or early fall.
Come join us on one, two, a few or all of the hikes/walks! ( My legs
may hate me for this LOL)
I have every Monday free from now until the beginning of fall so
Monday will be our day to get moving.
Our first hike/walk will be Monday(the 8th) at Cape Helopen state
park in Lewis. I'd like to get started by 10ish because it's cooler
(and easier on the little ones). After the walk/hike we can check out
the nature center or whatever :-)
Let me know and I'll let you know where to meet us.
Dawn

Hello...
I own SwimMasters of Delaware and we are setting up swimming lessons and swim
programs at Newark Boys/Girls Club for Homeschool as well as Daycare/Private
School Programs. Last spring we ran a very successful program for North
Wilmington Home School Association at Towne Estates Aquatic Center in
Wilmington and beginning in January, we are setting up programs in the Newark
area.
The Newark Boys/Girls Club has time slots available during the
mornings/afternoons. It is a 6 lane, 25 meter heated indoor pool with large
gameroom/classroom space so special activities for groups can be done at the
same time as the swimming classes.

For example, last spring, while the preschool kids were having their 45
minute swim lesson, the older kids were having a math class with one of the
moms and some were doing creative writing, etc. Once the preschool kids were
done with their class, changes, dressed, etc., they did some activities while
the older kids got changed.

We also can have some programs ( water exercise/ swim lessons/CPR/FirstAid)
for the adults at the same time we are holding classes for the kids.

Please contact me for additional information about programs for your group.
