Hello everyone,
My name is Angelika Wieczynski and I'm a mother of two girls Nicole(4), and
Ilona(4months). I live in City of Decatur and just wanted to let you all know
that I'm opening a day care center called "The little Schoolhouse in Decatur" at
124 Church St. I'm currently enrolling children ages 6 weeks - 4 years. The
Little Schoolhouse is going to be a truly wonderful place with healthy/organic
and educational approach to high quality childcare. I'll be having both full
time and part time programs availabe. I'm currently working on creating the
website for my center, but if you or anyone you know is looking for a daycare
you may contact me via email at thelittleschoolhouseindecatur@... or by
phone 678-528-1827.
Thank you,
Angelika Wieczynski

Hey all,

I wanted to let you know that I plan to go to the Fort Worth Zoo with my kids (Annika - 3 1/2 yrs, Andrew - 15 mos) this Thursday.  I used to work there and gave tours in the education department.  It is a really great zoo, if you haven't been before.

We should leave here around 9am and will pack a lunch to eat there.  If you plan to come, give me a call on my cell phone: 817-233-7584 when you get there and we will meet up.

Hope to see you there.

THE ONLY  FLAG THAT DOESN'T  FLY ****

Between the  fields where the flag is planted, there are 9+ miles of flower

fields that  go all the way to the ocean. The flowers are grown by seed

companies. It's  a beautiful place, close to Vandenberg AFB. Check out

the dimensions of  the flag. The Floral Flag is 740 feet long and 390 feet

wide and maintains  the proper Flag dimensions, as described in Executive

Order #10834. This  Flag is 6.65 acres and is the first Floral Flag to be

planted with 5  pointed Stars, comprised of White  Larkspur.  Each Star is

24 feet in diameter; each Stripe is 30 feet  wide. This Flag is estimated to

contain more than 400,000 Larkspur plants,  with 4-5 flower stems each,

for a total of more than 2 million  flowers.

Hi Ladies!

I know that there hasn't been a whole lot going on with the group lately. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Decatur McDonalds. We could let the kids play then get lunch. Maybe talk about a few activities this summer that we could all get together and do?

I know it's so hot, and going outside is hard. I don't mind having everyone over to my house. My house is anything but fancy but playdates over here are more than welcome. Lots of toys and space for the kids to play indoors.

Here is one place I've heard good things about but have yet to go:

Roanoke Splash Pad
750 Cannon Parkway
http://www.roanoketexas.com/ContentTemplate.aspx?MenuID=829
It's a free water play area for kids plus a park right there. We could go and let the kids play, take a picnic lunch

Any thoughts? Anyone interested in trying to set something up once a week again?

Melanie

Tomorrow (Monday) I am planning to take my kids to the new spray park in Trophy Club.  It just opened on July 4th, and I know little about it.  It is $6 to get in, and is a large concrete area for the kids to run around on and get sprayed or spray others.  It is good for all ages, and little ones under 35" are free to get in.

I plan to bring a lunch with me and will get there about 10:00.  Here is a link the the website: http://www.trophyclub.org/parks_rec/pool.asp

Hi Everyone!

Suzanne and I are going to be taking the kids to the Trophy Club Spray Park on Monday. It opens at noon and we figured that would be a great time to get there before it gets busy. Cost is $6.00 per person over 35" tall. We'll likely take some snacks.

I'm trying to find the address for the park and when I do (or if Suzanne has it) one of us will send an e-mail out.

We would love for any or all of you to join us there!

Hey moms,

I will be taking Annika and Andrew to the spray park in Roanoke/Trophy Club this Monday, August 2nd.  The pool opens at noon and is $6 for everyone over 36" tall.  You can bring in your own food and drinks.

It is great for all ages and has three pools: an Olympic sized with a diving board, a small pool with a slide, and their new spray park.  Here is the link to their website if you want directions or want to read more: http://www.trophyclub.org/parks_rec/pool.asp

We hope to see you there.

If you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!
A United States Marine was taking some college courses
between assignments. He had completed 20 missions in Iraq
and Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor  who
was an avowed atheist, and a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in.
He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, "GOD, if you are real, then
I want you to knock me off this platform... I'll give you exactly 15 min."
The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes
went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am GOD, I'm still waiting."

It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got
out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him;
knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently.
The other students were shocked and stunned, and sat there
looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to,
noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked,
"What in the world is the matter with you?  Why did you do that?"

The Marine calmly replied,
"GOD was too busy today protecting America's
soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid
stuff and act like an idiot. So He sent me."

The classroom erupted in cheers!

Carson Elementary is having its Carnival and Craft Fair Friday night October 22 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  There is no football that week.

If you would like to have a craft booth there, please let me know.  They are only $25 to rent.  The first few to respond will get the best booth locations.

We are advertising HEAVILY for this event and plan on having a great turnout!

You can email me back to reserve a space, and by all means, plan on bringing your entire family to a great time of fun!

I am interested in playing some pick-up volleyball games in the evening maybe
once or twice a week, but have no idea how to find out if this kind of thing is
available in Decatur. I've searched the Fit-N-Wise/hospital website, but didn't
find anything. Does anyone have any ideas about where else to look or who else
to call? I doubt the high school gym would be available??

We just moved here this summer from Denton, and I'd like to make some new
friends here, but can't find many things to do in town. We live at 302 S.
Miller St., a couple blocks down from the Methodist Church, feel free to stop by
and say hi if you're bored! : ) My kids are 3 1/2 and 20 months.

Thanks for your help.

Just wondering if anyone has a set of duplo mega blocks they're wanting to get
rid of. My son LOVES them. I can come pick them up.

Thanks,

Hi, I'm Brandi and I'm new to this group! I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 2 month
old and we live outside of Boyd. I was wondering if anyone was meeting for
playdates at all? We would love to join one so we can get out of the house a
little bit more!

Julia Weidmann, one of Oakhurst's competent and compassionate mothers, is
offering part-time (8-20 hrs/wk) childcare out of her home. Julia's life
experiences have given her the perfect constellation of traits and skills that
make her an excellent caretaker for children. From caring for her younger
siblings, cousins and neighbors throughout her childhood to being a camp
counselor during summers in college and later a professional teacher with a
masters in education, Julia has cultivated a spirit of youthfulness that
children adore. She is warm, patient, creative, playful and responsible. She
enjoys creating a holistic lifestyle in which children can thrive including
cooking organic food and facilitating activities in nature. Julia has one
daughter who is 2 months old. Ideally, your child would be close in age in order
to encourage their mutual development as playmates. If you would like to provide
your child with excellent care in Julia's nurturing home environment, email her

I'd like to start a playgroup on Thursday mornings at Waggonner park in Decatur
around 9:30. My son is 3 1/2 and daughter is 1 1/2. If you have kiddos around
this age or are just eager to get out and meet some new people, please come join
us. If the weather is bad, we could head to my house (302 S. Miller, Decatur)
if the group isn't too big. If it's more than 8-10 people, we can meet at
McDonald's. We'll be at the park starting tomorrow, and will try to keep it up
each week. I have blonde hair, usually in a pony tail. We usually walk, so you
can look for a gray stroller.
Hope to see some new faces!

P.S. I apologize if there's already a regular playgroup on this day/time. I
wasn't aware of anything, and am just trying to get something going, since we
seem to have several new members. :)

Hi Valleri,

Sorry I didn't get a chance to respond earlier to your e-mail. Thanks for setting this up and I hope that you all had a great time at the park. The weather is definitely great for it!

We won't be able to make it as my son has speech and a preschool class Tuesday and Thursday mornings. But I know that we have a lot of new people in the group and I hope you can all start meeting there weekly!

I love that you set this up. I'd love to meet some of the other moms on this group. Unfortunately, I work on Thursdays so won't be able to make it.
