Hi Jess-
I haven't seen any evidence of shenanigans there. Might they be thinking of Wu
Wei, who has published several books on the Yi? (distinguish from
wei wu wei or terry gray). Actually, while researching my translations of the
Yijing and Daodejing I ran across several authors with Chinese names who clearly
didn't know a word of Chinese.
