Ranger Stan Fowler was unexpectedly reassigned by The National ParkService (NPS) to the Virginia District of the George Washington MemorialParkway (GWMP) after being at Glen Echo Park for the past 30+ years. This move was effective 7 January 2009. Stan retired June 26, 2009 after 39 years of service.

Many believe that Stan represented the heart, soul and spirit of GlenEcho Park.
