Country Gumbo, Excelencia, Beausoleil
This and All kinda stuff at www.dancegumbo.com
Dance Gumbo is back August 28 for a Country Western Dance Gumbo in the Back Studio at Triangle Dance. Half the mix will be the classic minnestrone of Swing, Latin, Zydeco, Ballroom, and half will be doing two step, west coast swing, waltzes, and western swing, to the likes of Dwight Yoakum, Mavericks, Junior Brown, Trish Yearwood, Mary C Carpenter et al. One associates Country Western with two step and line dancing, but I love a number of CW West Coasts and slow waltzes.
La Excelencia
La Excelencia is a 12 piece Salsa Dura band out of NY City that is electrifying and fun and is coming to the Triangle October 16 as a joint production of Dance Gumbo, SalsaforU, and Carolina Latin Social. It will coincide with the 10th anniversary of SalsaforU and occur on their regular third Saturday at Fred Astaire studios. We are also preparing workshops and preformances for the weekend. Check out the band burning it up in NYC Here
I have a tab at my website at www.dancegumbo.com/Excelencia for some more details and more vids of the band at www.dancegumbo.com/vidsandpix . Also check the band's web at www.laexcelencia.net
Beausoleil August 27
Grammy Award winning Cajun Band Beausoleil is coming to Carrboro August 27. Sandra and I will be doing a Cajun Two Step lesson. See details below. Dancin Doc
Don't you just hate people who you bestow your e-mail upon because of an interest in learning the tarantella, and then you get a lifetime of e-mails regarding blue green algae treatment, pleas for homeless armadillos, and campaigns for the rights of Inuit transexuals. Well if you can't beat em join em. Little beknownst to many of my friends who know me merely as a dancing fool, in my spare time, I am a Family Practice physician- in the snot and pee business, so to speak. Anywho, this is the last time I will shamelessly plug myself, but after twenty years of doing 50% nursing home director work, I quit the nursing home, and now need to fill up my office practice. So anybody looking for a Dancin' Doc, contact me or call the office at 336-578-3465. I am relatively mainstream and won't be chanting Tibetan mantras or giving carrot juice enemas , but do believe in relatively non aggressive medicine and holding down costs. Office is in Graham which is about 20 minutes from Hillsborough. Back to reality. All Upcoming Events at www.dancegumbo.com/Upcoming-dances All Ongoing Dances at www.dancegumbo.com/Ongoing-dances
