Receive two brief Halachos in your email each weekday.
When you apply for membership, you must mention whether or not you are Jewish (or with which Orthodox Rabbi you are studying for conversion to Judaism). If you do not, you will be rejected. For why, see below.
We are slowly working our way through the Shulchan Aruch (Code of Jewish Law), Orach Chayim (Laws of Daily Life). We also touch upon the reasons and some deeper concepts of the Laws, whenever possible.
Currently, we are in the middle of learning about the Laws of the Morning Prayer. You will need to be familiar with the system and cycle of Jewish Prayer, and own or have easy access to an Orthodox-Jewish prayer book.
Halachah is the WAY, that is, the way of life for Jews. Non-Jews also have a share in the World to Come, but their path is via the Covenant of the Children of Noah, not via the Covenant of the Torah. The Torah says that Hashem "Declares His words to Jacob, His statutes and His Laws to Israel. He did not do so to any other nation, and of His laws they were not informed..." (Psalms 147:19-20). The Torah is our Covenant with Hashem, and only someone who is obligated to keep the covenant may study Halachah. It is therefore forbidden for Jews to teach non-Jews Halachah. So please understand, this group is for Jews only, and for those already seriously studying for conversion to Judaism under valid Orthodox Rabbinic guidance. Otherwise, I'm sorry, but I cannot accept you into the group.
