Welcome to the DNA-NEWBIE list brought to you by the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG)!

ISOGG's mission is to further the education and promotion of Genetic Genealogy. To assist with meeting this goal, we've decided to provide a public mailing list for those new (hence the term, "newbies") to the field of Genetic Genealogy. You do NOT need to be an ISOGG.org member to subscribe to this mailing list.

As a subscriber to the DNA-NEWBIE list, we ask you to adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Please visit the "ISOGG Genetic Genealogy Q&A for Beginners" http://www.isogg.org/ggfaq.htm page & browse this group's "Links" section.

2. Please keep discussion topics & queries relevant to GENETIC GENEALOGY uses of DNA testing. MEDICAL & FORENSIC DNA topics are not applicable for this list. For anthro-genealogy/deep ancestry queries, or detailed test results analysis, we may refer your post to Rootsweb's GENEALOGY-DNA list where many anthro-genealogy experts answer questions about haplogroup origins and SNP results.

3. List moderators may e-mail you a gentle reminder in case of "topic drift" (i.e.: politics, religion, etc.) if subjects do not pertain to our list topic.

4. When replying to messages, please conserve bandwidth by "snipping" <snip> the text out of the message to which you are replying.

5. Rude and/or negative comments are NOT allowed on this list! The rule here is: "If you can't say something nice, don't say it at all."

6. Discussion of products and prices IS ALLOWED for items relevant to genetic genealogy. This does not include ads for computers, computer classes, etc. Anyone posting a product or service that does not relate directly to genetic genealogy will be considered a Spammer and BANNED!
