DINaction – the Dyckman-Inwood Noise Action Committee – seeks to alleviate problems of noise pollution in the Inwood section of upper Manhattan, particularly the area around Dyckman Street west of Broadway.
Members are encouraged to submit their comments, as long as they are respectful of the views of other members. Defeatist, "drive by" posts will be deleted and members will lose posting privileges. Let your guideline be: "Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness!"
Please log your noise-related calls to 311/911, which the moderators will periodically pass on to government officials. Noise complaints, per se, should be directed to 311, while drag-racing complaints are a matter for 911. In the case of drag-racing, a complaint to both numbers is appropriate.
To log a 311/911 call in our database, please go to the Homepage and click on Database in the left-hand column. Then click on the table entitled Noise Related Calls to 311/911. At the top of that page, click on Add Record. You will be prompted from there.
Not everyone likes to receive all of our messages via email. If you would like to limit the volume of messages that arrive in your email box, you may at any time change your message delivery options as described below:
1. Sign in to Yahoo! Groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/)
2. Click My Groups > "Manage"
3. Click "Edit My Groups"
4. Select a new "Message Delivery" option from the drop-down menu. Your options are:
* Individual Email: The option to choose if you want to get each group message and special notice individually and immediately, as it is posted.
* Daily Digest: The option to choose if you want to see all messages but limit the amount of email you receive. We'll compile an email of up to 25 messages and send daily (special notices too!).
* Special Notices: Receive only important email notices from the group moderator.
* Web Only: Don't get notified of the latest happenings. Read messages only on the web.
