October 8th, Hal Simon will be conducting a lecture on "Victorian Funeral and
Mourning Customs" at Heritage Farmstead Museum. Refreshments will be served at
6:30 pm and the lecture will begin at 7:00 pm. This should be GREAT as it's
Hal's favorite topic. Lectures are $3.00 person and FREE to members and
volunteers.
I think he'd freak, but in a good way, if we showed up in mourning garb. I'll
be there in my best "make-do" version of a mourning outfit. Hope some of you
can make it. His lectures are always really good and he has an outstanding
collection of all things about the Victorian rituals of mourning.
Oct. 3rd is Harvest Festival and I'm looking for people who'd like to sell any
crafts or home made products. I'm also on the look out for anyone who makes
their own preserves, we're doing a competition. There will be a watermelon
eating contest and the Model T Club is talking about doing a car show. This
would be a fun opportunity to wear your 1900's outfits. I think Hal will wave
the entry fee to anyone in costume. He's already said he would for Lantern
Light, Dec. 4th & 5th.
Hope to see you
