I've been putting July 4th concerts, parades,
fireworks, community picnics and patriotic
programs/performances on What's On, Washington,
http://www.whatsoncity.net for several months now.
Highly, highly recommended for sheer inspiration
and splendor is the 11:00 am Washington National
Cathedral concert of patriotic music. Palisades and
Capitol Hill have the best "home town" parades.
The security arrangements at the US Capitol have
changed this year--you can get on the lawn starting
at 3:00 pm and liquor will be confiscated. The dress
rehearsal the evening before the 4th at (about) 7:30 pm
is a less crowded alternative.
Get all the details about these events and others going
on all around the DC area on http://www.whatsoncity.net
