The DC Coalition, Inc. was founded in 1978, when a group of individuals carefully and successfully spearheaded the struggle to end overt racist policies of many area gay bars. The DC Coalition now stands as the oldest Black LGBT political, educational and social organization in the country. The DC Coalition seeks to promote the needs and aspirations and celebrate the identity of Black Lesbian, Gay Male, Bisexual and Transgender Persons in the DC metropolitan area. For many years the DC Coalition has served as a voice for thousands of men and women in the Black LGBT Community in the metropolitan DC Area and around the country. Though we strive to get more people from the community involved, we have established a rich history in supporting the rights of our people.
