I received this one as a gift if anyone wants detailed pictures for an upscale
http://www.coolrockets.com/shop_1001_moon.html

The fins are already 3/16" thick.

Yeah..  They are cool...  This one would be fun to upscale
http://www.coolrockets.com/shop_1003_blast.html

However, with fins like that I would want it to recover upside down.  Or
maybe mount the fins using something like a dove tail that allows them to
slide up on landing.  Secure them with sheer pins to keep them in place
during flight but still allow them to slide up to a stop where they donąt
take all the landing forces.

Actually EMRR had a contest a few years ago to build these that would fly. There
were some really good entries. I'm sure you can find it on EMRR somewhere.

Remember those rockets you had ready to go back in October? Time to dust
them off and get ready again for the (just barely) Fall Classic V, next
Saturday in Frisco. The DARS website still provides you guide to the event
and links to all of the sponsors. That includes Q-modeling, HobbyTown USA
(Walnut Hill), Inflight Rockets, Excelsior Decals, and Red River Rocketry.
The long range forecast looks like the temperatures will be mild and having
it at this time of year means there is no ragweed!

Come on out, enter your rockets, see the sights, fly, take home prizes. All
this and an excuse to not be in the mall! What more could you ask for?

It is on the website that the launch has been canceled. Probably because of the
rain that came in this morning....in the wee hours! I know we had a flash/bang
party at our house!

Well there was this time back in '96 when we didn't have a launch site...

We did hold a lot of build sessions though.

OK, I'll ask. We all want to know. Are we rained out or are we still on

tomorrow?

The forecast is calling for winds out of the southeast, so locating the

rangehead along the road is not possible.

Talking to myself again...

The web site now says the launch tomorrow is cancelled. It rained quite a
bit in Plano overnight; I guess north Frisco got it too.

If Asa's getting anything like the pounding Austin is getting, there's no way
there can be a launch tomorrow.

Thanks for considering a launch the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving.
That might be a good break from company.

Based on the weather forcast for the area, it does show a rain out, however,
depends on the amount that we actually get.  Tomorrow afternoon (unless it is a
total wash) I will go to the field and put a foot in the mud, I mean dirt and
let everyone know if it is a GO OR NO GO.

We will definitely try again for Sat & Sun, Nov. 28-29.

The concept was to launch the UNLITE Saturn 1B on the four Titan III SRMs and
light the 1B at 60,000 feet!!! Repeat: !!!!! Did not discover what they
intended to launch in the SLA that would later carry the Lunar Module. I built
the SLA and Command Module upper section here in Fort Worth, Matt Steele built
the core Saturn 1B in Salt Lake City, and Pat McCarthy built the four Titan III
SRMs in Florida a hop-skip-and-jump from the Cape. Literally a Team effort.

I just got my Sports Rocketry magazine today. Always seem to be a dollar
short...

We flew it with a G for a qualified flight and then went for the gusto with
another G, four A10s around the G and a 1/2A in each of the SRM strapons that
would be parachute recovered. Even with relay system and twin igniters the G
did not fire and six or seven of the 13mm motors fired and got the vehicle to
about 10 feet and, well, gravity works. Go to www.naramlive.com to see the
aftermath. You pays your money and you take your chances. Its why we play the
game. And why we went with a single motor first!

There is a website that I do not have here at home called "up-ship". That is
where Matt found the conceptual design

BTW, it is Master Sargeant. By Golly.

Forty-one years in the NAR to get my picture on the cover of the Roll...Sports
Rocketry. Mom would have been so proud.

Looks like a Saturn 1B with Titan Boosters? That should get a Apollo SM moving
pretty quickly. Love to hear what that was conceptualized to do.
