Hi Rod,

> What version are you running?
> V22_011 doesn't show this (the version I run).
That is the version I'm running. I opened an older version V22_010
and Auswertung1 shows 227x82 10Y600 GB as the motor at the top of the
worksheet. The other three Auswertung worksheets show the motor
currently selected on the Calculator worksheet. There appears to be
something "odd" going on with Auswertung1, just wondering what it is?

Just to be sure I'm not seeing things, I downloaded a clean copy from
Rod's site and opened the hidden worksheets and Auswertung showed the
chosen motor from the Calculator worksheet, Auswertung1 showed Python
80 - 2S and the Auswertung2 worksheet again showed the motor selected
from the Calculator worksheet page of the workbook.

I then trashed that version, and downloaded the currrent version from
the German site. Auswertung worksheet shows the motor chosen,
Auswertung1 worksheet shows Kontronik Dancer Pro while Auswertung2 &
Auswertung3 once again show the chosen motor.

I didn't check it out, but I think Auswertung1 is showing the motor
that the the spreadsheet defaults to. Just a guess, and I'm not sure
why.

Still just very curious,
Ken

Hi Ken,

What version are you running?
V22_011 doesn't show this (the version I run).

Hi,

Can anyone tell me why the Evaluation1 (Auswertung1) sheet always has
Python 80 - 2S at the top and all of the other Evaluation sheets have
the name of the motor being calculated?

Thanks,
Ken

Goedendag,

Below a message from Yahoo groups, about upgrades in the 'photos' section.

Vriendelijke groeten ;-) Ron van Sommeren
D-calc group owner

-----------------------

Dear Moderators,

Starting the week of November 21st, we will be upgrading Yahoo! Groups
photos. Not all groups will be affected immediately; the changes will
take place gradually over a 4-6 week period.

The upgrade will:

allow for moderation of the photos uploads (in the same way you
currently can moderate messages);
alert users on the web site when new photos are uploaded;
display all recently posted photos on a special "new photos page";
offer a larger display option for photos.

In addition, thanks to some help from the Yahoo! Photos team, photos
will now be stored in "albums" rather than folders. The good news is
that albums will now display the first photo in the album as a cover
photo, and the owners of an album will have the ability to sort the
photos.

However, the change also means you will no longer be able to place a
photo album in another photo album, nor add photos to a group without
putting them in an album. For existing groups that are using these
features, folders in your group's photo area that are currently stored
in other folders will be brought to the top level; while photos that
are currently not in any folder will be automatically added to a new
album called "Miscellaneous".

If you want to preview the new Yahoo! Groups photos functionality, you
can test drive it at the special photo upgrade beta group we have
created. Please feel free to jump into the group and tell us what you
think or simply email your feedback to groups-feedback@...

Thank you,

Gordon Strause

The data were submitted by someone else. Since no measured data are
available, they are not very useful anyway and I will delete them. With
only the producer's specs the calculation is not at all reliable.

Hello Kenneth,

we have a complete series labeled "APC Sport". All these measurements were
taken years ago at the Vienna university, but the results were labeled only
"APC". Gerd Giese thought he remembered they had measured APC Sport props.
Maybe he is wrong and they are all mislabeled. Or could it be APC has
changed it's production program? I check it with Gerd.

Hi Ken,

I've had a look at these props; they are not data points from the
Hyperion set - only CP can offer any clues on this one! (it might be
a mislabel)

Thanks,

Rod

Rod & all,

I've found an error in the props listed.

In the list is an 15x10 APC Sport
There is no such prop.
There is an APC 15x10E and APC 15x10 Pattern
Something needs to be done about this, as the two other props
wouldn't have the same characteristics as a 15x10 APC Sport.

The link to your site was down when I first tried to find your motorcalc
drive_calculator.
Drive_calculator is excellent. Ken Myers pointed me in your direction and I am
glad he did.
I wish I was able to contribute rather than just be one of many that appreciate
the sharing.

The selection of electric components is tricky though some would try to simplify
it. I also buy at swap meets for pennies on the dollar and well unrecognizable
is still junk until the mud comes off, it gets spun up and the truth be told.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm Heitor and I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Formely a Mechanical
Engineer, I'm now working with applicatons of Virtual Reality to Off-
shore Engineering in Petrobras Research Center.

I've been playing with R/C models (auto and aircraft) for the last four
years but I'm still a novice in E-flight.

After reading/studying/learning in the impressive LRK-Torquemax thread
for almost six months, I pleasantly joined this one hoping to ovecome
my difficulties to find the real Diy BL motors and batteries constants
with a proper use of D-calc measurements.

Best regards,

Hello, Sure looks like a great place for me. I started electronics as
an avionics tech in the USCoast Guard, went on to electrical power
engineering technician for an electric mining excavator manufacturer
and have big drives experience in mines around the globe. I now keep
US Postal Service automations up and running when the mail comes into

Wouldn't it be better for consisantancy if you used the official name 'Drive

Instead of motorcalc? We already have Stefan Vorkoetters 'Motocalc'. f you

OK,

Realising it is probably easier to submit the data for inclusion
into 'Drive Calculator' on-line; I have created an on-line motor
submission form that can be accessed at:
http://www.badcock.net/motorcalc/DCsubmit.htm

This should allow easier integration of the motors into upcoming
releases by CP.

To back this up I will add some new pages to the English description at:
http://www.badcock.net/motorcalc/
These will include more details on how to make the measurements
required for a motor characterisation and I shpould be putting these up
at the weekend.

Rod

Hello everybody

I am Louis (from France)
I like solar powered vehicles (one glider, a lot of solar cars)
I have learned a lot about brushless

Now I begin a new Test stand-bench based on PowerPRO from MEDUSA
(thanks Jeff !!)
I place some preliminary pictures in the photos group space

I have to improve them and reduce the sizes
My digital camera is not so good

I have to work hard to learn-use PowerPRO software with a good
efficiency

In the past I used Astro whattmeter and old Power Analyzer
I think the new model is very powerful and complete

Hello from the thumb of Michigan, USA.

I am Ken Myers, president of the Electric Flyers Only of southeastern
Michigan. I have been involved with RC flying since 1963. I started
flying electrically powered models in the early 1980's, when I met
one of the USA's most knowledgeable electric fliers, Keith Shaw of
Ann Arbor.
By the mid-1980's I had given up pattern flying to go exclusively
electric power. I have been the president of the EFO since it's
beginning in 1988.
I have been the Editor of the our club newsletter, the Ampeer, since
it's beginning. It has grown to a well read publication all around
the world. It can be found at the EFO Web site, http://
members.aol.com/kmyersefo/
I wish to contribute any way that I can, especially by taking careful
data from motors that I have available. I had the great pleasure of
"working" with Rod Babcock and Phil Connolly this summer as they gave
me a whole new "education" in power systems. I admire their work
very much.
I am looking forward to working with this group and contributing what
I can.

Sincerely,
Ken Myers, north of Port Huron, Michigan, USA in the area known as
the thumb (look at a map and you'll see why), almost right on Lake
Huron, which is hard to miss on a world map or globe!

Hi I'm Rod and I'm a recovering electroholic!

Seriously though I've been involved with BL motors and electric RC for
a few years now and feel the way ahead is definitely electric. Easily
available utilities such as the Drive Calculator are what is needed
to 'demystify' electric RC and bring it out into the mainstream.

I have a particular interest in the power train modelling and
prop/motor characterisation and modelling. I'm hoping that others who
join in here will be willing to contribute to CP's efforts in whatever
way they can but particularly if they have a thrust stand or power dyno
or even with their measured data for motors. After all it can only
develop if everyone contributes.

Folks, I am a new member hoping to learn more about motor theory and
applications. I make small outrunner motors for aircraft and have
testing equipment, mostly of my own mechanical design, using supplies
and instruments of the sort available to hobbyists. I live in the woods
in southwest Wisconsin, USA. I am a retired chemistry professor
(inorganic synthesis). I don't see how to use the subject calculator to
evaluate homegrown motors, but joined the group in hopes that someone
will supply such knowledge. My email is gaines@...

Hi,
my name is Wolfgang and I am living in St.Gallen, Switzerland. After a
break of almost 25 years I restarted this fascinating hobby again.

I am a member of the local model aircraft club, flying gliders and
electric planes. I am also very interested in DIY brusless motors. My
technical background is an university degree in mechanical engineering.

I already used Drive Calc to sucessfully optimize the NosE - a
brushless motor for a SAL/DLG plane - seed details here:

Best regards,
Wolfgang

As suggested in the welcome note, here is a short introduction to myself.

My name is Paul, I live in Port Elizabeth in South Africa. I have been
playing with E-flight for about a year, although flying with electric is
only just starting to become really popular in South Africa.

As an engineer I am fascinated with the theory etc. of flight and especially
propulsion systems. I speak English and German so look forward to hearing
from you!

mit freundlichen Gruessen/ with best regards
