Hello all,
Drive Calculator 3.1 is now available on www.drivecalc.de
This is a major update, because the database format has changed. Only the
new version will be able to download further database updates from
www.drivecalc.de.
The new database contains the data that came with the former version as
well as all data distributed via the online data exchange before January
2007, and some dozen new items. You may transfer data you have added to the
existing database using the new import function.
More new features:
Improved algorithms: The motor analyzer part and the Reconfigurator have
been re-designed to achieve more accurate computation results. Critical
database fields are now double-precision to minimize rounding errors.
Speed tuning: The database scan run to search for motors matching a
selected prop is performed notably faster now.
The 'Virtual Dyno': This new tool assists you in generating propeller
constants. The 'Virtual Dyno' utilizes the propeller references in the
motor database and the motor characteristics as computed by Drive
Calculator. You can now determine propeller power constants, even if you do
not have a dynamometer. You may also enter any number of thrust measurement
data to generate propeller thrust constants.
More comfortable updating: The internal structures to keep track of updates
have been improved, so that name conflicts can be avoided in most cases.
Select the new update function in the 'File' menu.
Data submission made easier: Once you have added measurement data to the
database, you will get your entries listed in the Data Submission window
and may select data sets individually for submission.
The stator database: Stores the dimensions of stator lamination stacks and
winding information. Motor builders may like this addition to the database.
Context sensitive help: A right mouse click in a window's area will open a
window-specific help file in your web browser. In addition, there are
specific help files for some of the control elements, which open by a right
mouse click on the element.
Bug fixes: I have fixed all bugs I was aware of, i.e. the Reconfigurator
will not overwrite original data any more, the timestamp is now displayed
correctly in the motor editing window, all elements stay in the right place
when the main window contents is scrolled, and some more minor bugs.
Regards
Christian
