I have a text where they're testing a "pripravek", which appears to be
some just-manufactured electronic device. I have no other context to
go on. Would this "pripravek" be called a "blank" in English? No
translation in any dictionary seems to fit.

Thanks very much.

Jamie

... I disagree. At school (CVUT FEL), we quite commonly use the term "pripravek" for an electronic device (e.g. a microprocessor demo board) that the students...

Thanks. I ultimately did find English texts that talked about "testing blank devices", so maybe that's what this pripravek is. Jamie ... [Non-text portions of...

I would say that a generic term for an electronic device or prototype, such as a "device" or a "unit", should work. I've never seen a "blank" or a "jig" used...

Hi Jamie: I think you could call it "tester" in this context. Also, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_test_equipment. One word for a mechanical one...

Thank you, Jirka. Actually it looks like my "pripravek" is the DUT and not the tester, because the pripravek is plugged into the tester. Jamie...
