Bonjour!

We would like to introduce you to “Les Coureurs de Bois de la Louisiane”, a small group of historical trekkers / living historians. Our group is a mixture of COHT and ALRA members in Louisiana who strive to accurately recreate the life of those 18th century Coureurs de Bois, Dutch, French, German, English, Spanish and Native families, who explored, trapped, traded, and eventually settled the lower Mississippi. On our treks and visits to the French Outposts of the Gulf Coast, we attempt to be as historically accurate as possible in every aspect from our manner of dress, our food, our lodging, our daily task and most importantly our gatherings. In addition, we teach and learn simple woods craft (traditional wilderness skills) that we hope will help us to understand and better portray the lifestyle that they enjoyed. Where self-sufficiently and dedication to family were the key to existing in the new world.
