Brothers,

Check the link below and see if your Fighter Authorization is up to date. Chances are, it isn’t.

In order for us to be reauthorized, we will all need to follow the paperwork process listed below.

If you are coming to Estrella, print out and fill out the Form on the Caid Marshalate website (see link), bring it and your current White Authorization Card to Estrella War, and be prepared to work with Sir Valrik to get it resubmitted.

If not, then please attend an upcoming Brigade or other local Fighter Practice, Potrero War or Great Western War, and follow the process above. YOU are responsible for filling out the form and getting it to Sir Valrik or other Senior Marshal, so you can be added back into the Fighter Database.

Don’t be a dick and show up without any authorization paperwork at the beginning of the battles. That will just delay fighting and make everyone cranky. And if too many Corvites are not authorized, again, help us improve how the Kingdom views us, so folks don’t say “Darned Corvus!”!

Brother Bridget, Druid

Public Service Announcement from the Kingdom Earl Marshal’s office: They have just updated the Fighter database and 364 fighters, archers and equestrians are listed as expired. Please go out to http://marshal.sca-caid.org/db.php and check your name. If you are listed as expired but have a valid, current authorization card, all you need to do is fill out the form and present it with your card at an upcoming event. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control a number of forms went into The Great Void and they are sorry if that included yours. Any questions please contact Duchess Mora, moiranc@...

Greetings Brothers,

Our new tradition is that the Triskelion duties turn over oftener than in past years. And it would be logical to have Northern Brothers run Corvus for Great Western War and Southern Brothers run Corvus for Potrero War.

I believe that the Mighty Atellus wishes to remain through Potrero. But Magnus and I would like to pass along the titles of Centurion and Druid to our Southern Brothers. Please, could two of you step up to take these positions? Know the thrill of commanding the battles and calling the spirits into our circles!

You do not need to be present at Estrella Brothers’ Circle to nominate yourself or another (with their permission) for Centurion or Druid! Please send an email to myself, Atellus and Magnus if you would like to put in for the jobs! Thank you!

Not sure if this link will work, some photo set from some SCAster, check out the photos at the end of the set.  Corvus in full action at Estrella in 1991 or so.  Nice of the Abbey to be our rear guard as we hit the front line in one of those photos!  ;)

Greetings brothers,

I would like to recommend Marcus be added to our ranks as a brother. I don't
make this recommendation lightly as the last guy we made a brother is a real
pain in the ass. I have heard that in the past Marcus has been considered but
has not really stood out. I can see how Marcus could be considered quiet as I
have talked to him on occasion but never really spent much time with him, that
is until Estrella where I was able to talk more one on one with him. Beyond all
that, and more importantly in my opinion is the way he picked up a scutem due to
low numbers and dropped right into ranks with the likes of me and kicked some
serious ass. I feel it would be a loss to not welcome him as a brother. I would
like to formally bring this up after the May 6th brigade practice, so if you're
not going to make it be sure to contact me or Valrik or Magnus or Bridget before
May 6th.

I would personally like to see a white cloak on him at Potrero. Not sure if the CG is going to let me attend Potrero so I may not see it in person. Anyway, I have seen him on the field ALOT! Marcus has been around for awhile now, I think 4 years.  He is quite and gets lost in all of our loud personalities.  Yet he has shown a dedication to fight alot and he is easy to hang out with around the camp.  Picking up a scutem and fighting all day is a good thing.  We need a few mroe scutem drivers out there.

Brothers,

I am running the scenarios for May war.  I need help setting up the haybale castle and the bridge.  You get to get in on Wednesday.  I am cross posting this to the Iron Brigade list.  I have it planned out so it should only take us a few hours to do the castle.  We will not be lugging those things around the battlefield, I will schedule them to be dropped where the castle will be (in the clearing amongst the trees) and we will unfold the castle from the stack.  That seems the least amount of dragging of haybales.  So I need help, I will be making martini surprises for those who help out.

Here is where to sign up, register under heavies-marshall

plus tell me you are coming, remember the work is for Wednesday morning, afternoon.

Subject: [CorvusBrothers] May War Early Entrance

He has a great sense of humour, is not a dick and is not a burden. He always fights. He is just quiet. He expressed to me that he wanted to be made a Brother and I believe he has expressed this to others in the past. I brought this up to the Pendragon and then again at the Brothers circle at Estrella. I would personally like to see a white cloak on him at Potrero. Not sure if the CG is going to let me attend Potrero so I may not see it in person. Anyway, I have seen him on the field ALOT! I got to know him a bit better at Estrella and this 20yr Brother says AYE!!!!!!

Also has he actually requested to be a brother?

Greetings brothers,

I would like to recommend Marcus be added to our ranks as a brother. I don't make this recommendation lightly as the last guy we made a brother is a real pain in the ass. I have heard that in the past Marcus has been considered but has not really stood out. I can see how Marcus could be considered quiet as I have talked to him on occasion but never really spent much time with him, that is until Estrella where I was able to talk more one on one with him. Beyond all that, and more importantly in my opinion is the way he picked up a scutem due to low numbers and dropped right into ranks with the likes of me and kicked some serious ass. I feel it would be a loss to not welcome him as a brother. I would like to formally bring this up after the May 6th brigade practice, so if you're not going to make it be sure to contact me or Valrik or Magnus or Bridget before May 6th.

Covus & Friends,

Ok so far this is the list of folks who are interested.

Ron & Becky Steinberg
John Schmidt (Eric)
Ryan Hillard (Ambrose)
Andrew Lake (Jorm)

This means you can get in on Wednesday. Now I know some of you are seeing if
you can get the time off. We can also set up the castle on Thursday. My
Wednesday timetable is because I want to be there when the bales are dropped off
in order to make sure they get dropped off in the right spot. If most of you
cannot make it till Thursday then we can always build it in stages.

Also you have to be pre-registered in order to get in with the early set up
crew. So follow this link and pre-register NOW. If you are not pre-registered
you CANNOT get in early even to volunteer.

Corvus and Friends,

I have decided to work on gear this coming Sunday from 1-7.  If you have a scutem that needs edging or painting I can do it.  I have alot of the seat belt edging and the stencils for the Corvus symbol.  I am also going to BarBQ so you bring I will grill it.  I will be having a few more of these leading up to the war.

Brothers

I will make the journey down to Fighter Practice, then down to the meeting at Valrik’s. I will bring a vanload of fighters with me.

At the meeting, let us discuss and vote on New Members, and also vote on new members of the Triskelion. I am looking for my replacement for Druid, I believe Magnus is looking for his replacement for Centurion. We ask for Brothers step up and volunteer to be voted on. If you want to nominate someone, please get their permission first. Notify the Triskelion (Atellus, Magnus and me) of your intentions.

This is an important meeting! Please make the effort to be there if you can!

Bring a chair!

Thank you

Salve, my raven brothers and sisters

The drums of war beat softly on the horizon. The whispers of revolt drift on the beguiling spring winds. There are eyes gathering in the shadows, their stare fixed upon the triskelion. As always it is our call to beat back these transgressors and regain our warrior roar. To this end I call Corvus to the training field on the 6th of May. Bring your sword your shield your spear your hammer and your bow to wet the steel and coil your strength. Rekindle the spirit with brotherly mirth at the bludgeoning to be had.

This Brigade practice will be the last before May War. Lets figure out how to kick ass with our new ranks and our returning veterans. I saw some effective tactics employed at estrella that I would like to practice this brigade. I also want to get an idea of what we have to work with. So please set aside May 6th for some serious ass kicking preparation.

After the practice Valrik has graciously offered his home to the likes of us for a meeting. There are many things to discuss and plains to be laid for war. Please if at all possible come to this meeting, as what we discuss will most likely affect you.

Greetings Brothers and shield Sisters once again. I am glad to be back and
wanted to reintroduce myself as I have been trooping around the land of the
mundane since 2006.

The story of Ambrose,
I was there, in my barracks room aboard Camp Pendleton United Sates Marine
base, when Nat Clontz (AKA Avanaric ) told me about some very cool armored
fighting. The year was 1992 and I was young and fearless. So being a fan, 180lbs
and bullet proof, I said, "Hell yes"! So that weekend I met Avanaric at his
house on Laurel St, in down town, armored myself in ABS armor and commenced to
fight the big ass Visigoth (he broke my arm, through steal van braces with an
offhand at a Corvus Championship injury 1). I was hooked from the fist blow and
wanted more.
I showed up at Allied Gardens Park and was so impressed in the skill and
craftsmanship of the armored worriers. There under that same tree propped the
door skin shields of red brazen with the three ravens. On this field I met
legions of our brotherhood; Sir Rian Greenoake, fighting in a center mount oval,
Fafnir spear in hand with a horsehair plumed helm, Bruno in a coat of aluminum
plates riveted to the brightest baby blue leather you have ever seen, Bedwyr in
a red leather breast plate coated with bees wax and glinting in the sun, and
lastly the ever moving, somewhat short but fast with a short sword Ilweran the
Monkey.
I worked with Monkey weekend after weekend until I could kill instead of
just serving to dull the enemy's blades. I was hooked on the shield wall my
first May war and it continued all through the dark-wells and the now extinct
September war. I fought along the mighty Sir Caieth, the jovial Sir Jorg, and
self acclaimed spear god René (pardon him he's French), and the only man that I
know that skulks even when the sun is at its zenith Dyssan. During this golden
age I (Nat) broke my sword arm, I slipped and cracked 2 ribs, fell and tore
tendons in my ankle and as of yesterday's crash and bash tore my calf muscle.
I was reassigned to the east coast of Kingdom of Atlantia for four years
and thus eased my path along the course of the mundane not to return until this
year. I am so glad to be back and see the warband in all of its refreshing
changes. I look forward to the day that I meet you all, drink a drink with most,
admire some, dislike few but call all brothers of the Raven. I am there for you
all to blunt the spears, dull the swords and catch any arrows that victory
demands but in our labors glory is found.

"Though the stars may fall and slay us, though the sea does rise up and drown
us, though the land may crack open and swallow us, we shall stand our ground".

Glad to be back

Brothers,

I just inventoried the Druid Box and found:

1 brass Cloak Broach

2 Brothers’ 10-year Cloaks

1 Brother Cloak

3 white pre-Brother Cloaks

Goat Skull

Ceramic Chalice

Misc tokens

I will ask the Hearth if they can make up several new Cloaks, in case we make more than one Brother at Potrero.

And in case we decide to make more than one Brother at Potrero, we will need more of the Broaches. I am guessing we will need them for sure by Great Western.

Who can make them?

Bridget, Druid

Greetings Brothers and shield Sisters once again. I am glad to be back and wanted to reintroduce myself as I have been trooping around the land of the mundane since 2006.

The story of Ambrose,
I was there, in my barracks room aboard Camp Pendleton United Sates Marine base, when Nat Clontz (AKA Avanaric ) told me about some very cool armored fighting. The year was 1992 and I was young and fearless. So being a fan, 180lbs and bullet proof, I said, "Hell yes"! So that weekend I met Avanaric at his house on Laurel St, in down town, armored myself in ABS armor and commenced to fight the big ass Visigoth (he broke my arm, through steal van braces with an offhand at a Corvus Championship injury 1). I was hooked from the fist blow and wanted more.
I showed up at Allied Gardens Park and was so impressed in the skill and craftsmanship of the armored worriers. There under that same tree propped the door skin shields of red brazen with the three ravens. On this field I met legions of our brotherhood; Sir Rian Greenoake, fighting in a center mount oval, Fafnir spear in hand with a horsehair plumed helm, Bruno in a coat of aluminum plates riveted to the brightest baby blue leather you have ever seen, Bedwyr in a red leather breast plate coated with bees wax and glinting in the sun, and lastly the ever moving, somewhat short but fast with a short sword Ilweran the Monkey.
I worked with Monkey weekend after weekend until I could kill instead of just serving to dull the enemy's blades. I was hooked on the shield wall my first May war and it continued all through the dark-wells and the now extinct September war. I fought along the mighty Sir Caieth, the jovial Sir Jorg, and self acclaimed spear god René (pardon him he's French), and the only man that I know that skulks even when the sun is at its zenith Dyssan. During this golden age I (Nat) broke my sword arm, I slipped and cracked 2 ribs, fell and tore tendons in my ankle and as of yesterday's crash and bash tore my calf muscle.
I was reassigned to the east coast of Kingdom of Atlantia for four years and thus eased my path along the course of the mundane not to return until this year. I am so glad to be back and see the warband in all of its refreshing changes. I look forward to the day that I meet you all, drink a drink with most, admire some, dislike few but call all brothers of the Raven. I am there for you all to blunt the spears, dull the swords and catch any arrows that victory demands but in our labors glory is found.

"Though the stars may fall and slay us, though the sea does rise up and drown us, though the land may crack open and swallow us, we shall stand our ground".

Glad to be back
