Welcome to The Learning Community (TLC) of Corvallis!
TLC is a support and activity group for families who are homeschooling in the Corvallis, Oregon area. We are a welcoming and interactive community of families who choose to learn outside of the standard school setting.
We are an inclusive group and use many different approaches to learning with our children. At our core we are unschoolers, relaxed home learners, and world learners. We respect each family's individual choices in educating their children while looking for the learning we can experience together outside of a prepared curriculum. Our focus is on gentle parenting and alternative, child-inspired education.
TLC was founded in order to provide support for parents as well as activities, learning opportunities, socialization, and fun for the children. We strive to be respectful parents, helpful friends, and knowledgeable mentors. We have weekly park days in the dry months, and occasional Mom's brunches, family potlucks, field trips, hands-on activities, clubs, celebrations, and online as well as in person support. For wet month gathering, we recommend Homeschool Central, meeting at the Boys Girls Club on Fridays.
Our group is non-discriminatory on the basis of race, religion, ethnic background, political or sexual orientation. We have formed for the sole purpose of establishing a community of local homeschooling families.
We are a cooperative support group, meaning that all members need to contribute to the group in order to make us grow and thrive. There are no dues or requirements to join, but the more involved you are, the more you'll feel like a part of our growing community.
This list is for communication between TLC members, not a discussion list open to the public.
