I'm back from my long holiday break! If you go to the web site, you
will notice that I have changed the group description to say that
devotionals will go out "once or twice a month" rather than "twice a
month". I have found that I need the flexibility, depending on what
things are going on in my life :)

A FRESH START
"Love never fails..." 1 Corinthians 13:8a (NAS)
Happy 2007 to you all! A new year means an opportunity for a fresh
start in many areas of your lives. Today we will talk about
freshening up your marriages this year :)
No matter what condition your marriage is currently in, there are
things you can do to put it or keep it on the path of improvement.
Even if your husband isn't one to actively work at building a
stronger marriage, your efforts will please God, and I would venture
to say even be noticed by your husband.
I want you to get a piece of paper and a pen and start to list some
of the things that you know would please your husband. This is your
PRIVATE list that is just for you, not to be shared with him! You
will use this list for ideas to bless him over the course of the
year. :) Continue to add to it as more ideas come to you!
Does he have a couple of favorite home cooked meals? Do his work
uniforms need to go to the cleaners, or be washed and ironed? Is
there something special he would enjoy in the lovemaking department?
Would he be touched by a love note in his squad bag or lunch? Is
there a chore he has been wishing to get to, but been unable to
because of his work schedule, that you could do for him? Is there a
hobby or activity that he loves to do that you could do with him? Is
there something that you have been angry with him about that you
could put behind you? Do you pray daily for him?
The list is endless! If you choose one thing a week over the next
year, you would be well on your way to improving your marriage. One
important thing to note here.... Make sure that you are not shoving
it in his face... you don't want to be saying, "I did this for you
and you don't even appreciate it!" Or, "You didn't even notice I did
that!" This is something you are doing out of love for your husband,
whether he notices or not. Keep it unconditional.
Remember.... "Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:8a
PRAYER: Father, show these ladies which things would really bless the
hearts of their husbands. Help them to provide their husbands with
unconditional love throughout the year. Bless them for their efforts!
Move on the hearts of their husbands so that they will want to seek
improvement in their marriages as well. In Jesus' name, amen.
