A QUICK NOTE: I apologize for the delays in getting devotionals out
these past few months. I have meant to send two per month, but have
only sent one per month. I will continue writing devotionals each
month--whether once or twice a month-- and ask for your understanding
and support as I make my family my first priority :)

INTUITION
"You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding
way."
1Peter 3:7a (NAS)
It's amazing how well the guys seem to be able to read the minds and
actions of suspects or criminals! I know one cop who seems to know
the habits of every 'bad guy' on his beat... Sometimes I think he
even knows when the bad guys pee! Ever wonder why the men can't use
this wonderful 'intuitive skill' at home in knowing what their wives
are thinking???
Truth is, your officer has had extensive job training and years of
job experience to enhance his skills. But very few men (or women)
have had extensive training in personal relationships, in particular
in the area of communication and marriage.
How often do we, as women, give a man the silent treatment
because "he should know how I feel"? Or perhaps we feel that our
silence "tells it all" and will get him to come running after us to
see what's wrong. More often than not, those things backfire. Then we
get mad because we think he's being insensitive!
No one but YOU and GOD really knows for sure what you are thinking
and feeling. It is up to you to lovingly communicate what's on your
mind to your husband. Don't assume that he knows or make him try to
figure it out!
Yes, with time and effort, two people can LEARN to read each others
moods and actions with some accuracy, but true communication is being
open, honest, and straightforward with each other rather than beating
around the bush or hinting.
Remember, none of us are mind readers! Husbands and wives, help each
other to understand one another!
PRAYER: Father, help these couples to communicate in an open and
upfront manner. No games, no beating around the bush! Let love and
truth be the underlying themes in communicating, and let it bring
them closer and closer together! In Jesus' name, amen.
