LOVERS FOREVER...Part 4 "Not An Option"
"I hate divorce," says the Lord, the God of Israel..."
Malachi 2:16a
If you want to be lovers forever, divorce absolutely canNOT be an
option that is tucked away on the back shelf of your mind! The word
divorce should not even be in your vocabulary!
Hard times and frustration often open people's minds to the
possibility of divorce. Ladies, you must settle it once and for all
in your hearts that you will not even consider it! You must determine
to loathe divorce as much as God does!
"But my husband is selfish and does nothing to meet my needs! He
works constantly and puts his job before me and the family! He
polices us and talks to me like I am a suspect on the street!" That
may very well be true, and those issues do need to be addressed in
the marriage... but... you still need to make the spiritual decision
to do what's right rather than allow your feelings to entertain
divorce. Sometimes we have to do what's right BECAUSE it's right, and
for no other reason!
What if you've been divorced previous to this marriage? Past mistakes
are in the past. We are talking about the HERE AND NOW and the
marriage that you are currently in! THIS is the marriage that God
expects you to remain in and to nurture!
Law enforcement marriages are failing at an alarming rate! Don't let
yours be one of them! Make a firm commitment to push the thought of
divorce right out of your mind!
PRAYER: Father, we know that you hate divorce. We, too, hate divorce!
We ask that you would put a resolve into the couples in hurting
marriages so that they would not give up and not consider divorce to
be an option! Guide them to the help that they need and open their
hearts to one another! In Jesus' name, amen.
