BALANCE, BALANCE, BALANCE
"The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish
one tears hers down."
Prov. 14:1 (NIV)
Greetings, ladies! I bet you have wondered if I was gone for good!
No, I just needed to take a break from anything unnecessary and focus
on the things that needed my immediate attention. Today's devotional
runs along those lines. If you've ever been at the point of sheer
exhaustion -- at the place where autopilot kicks in and you just
barely get through your days without collapsing -- then you know what
I'm talking about!
God never designed you to be superwomen. He is all about balance. You
are not meant to live your lives eternally sleep deprived and
chronically stressed. I've been thinking about how so many of you
have to function like a single parent. Especially when hubby has to
work OT, or off-duty gigs, or when he works odd shifts. And again
with the upcoming holidays when you have to do so many things without
him.
If the stress level is high and the fatigue level is not far behind,
GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK! Seriously! Decide what is absolutely necessary
and let the rest go for awhile! It can be resumed later if needed!
Your family, your spiritual life, and your health should be at the
top of your list! Make time for family and make memories! Limit the
amount of activities your kids are involved in to keep it manageable.
If you do volunteer work, keep it to a reasonable amount. Learn to
say NO when you need to! Allow yourself time for devotions/prayer and
exercise. Take naps if needed! Heck, I took 4 consecutive days this
summer and just slept!
I want you to enjoy the journey of life, ladies. That's hard to do if
you aren't taking care of yourselves! As a family, pray and then
evaluate where your time is spent. Make adjustments if needed! It's
all about balance!
PRAYER: Father, you give wisdom in all things, even in our day to day
comings and goings! Give these women wisdom as they plan their daily
schedules and activities! Show them how to successfully balance their
lives so that their families can enjoy this journey of life
together! In Jesus' name, amen.
