HI Christine (and all…)
I was in the Savory Spice Shop yesterday (they are donating to
the MOD Silent Auction!) and they have an amazing recipe for ice cream.
You can check it out on their website at

Hi!
Sure, here are a couple of my favorite recipes for ice cream and sorbet:
Mint
Choco Chip
1
cup whole milk
1
cup powdered sugar
2
cups heavy cream
1
teaspoon vanilla
dash
of mint extract
green
food coloring
mix
all ingredients and chill well. Put approximately 1-1/2 cups of mini
chocolate chips in the ice cream maker when the ice cream is almost done - this
keeps them suspended throughout the mix
Strawberry
Sorbet
1
cup sugar
1
cup water
1/4
cup corn syrup
1
quart fresh strawberries, stems removed and quartered
4
tablespoons fresh lemon or lime juice
Bring
the sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Reduce heat and
simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved. Transfer to a bowl and
let cool completely. Combine the strawberries and lemon juice in chopper
or food processor until pureed. (you can press through a strainer to
remove the seeds, but honestly, it isn't a big deal if they are there).
Combine the puree with the syrup and sugar and chill.
Pop
in the ice cream maker and let it go!
Have
fun - nothing better than homemade ice cream! :)

Hi Christine, those are wonderful tips! I also love vanilla and will make sure to add it to all my ice cream. Can you share a favorite recipe with us? Anyone else from the group? I'm pulling out my ice cream maker for the weekend!

Plus, I was never quite sure if I was cooking the eggs all the way through and it just never seemed to work out color-wise as well. (for instance, unless you added coloring, it always seemed to look quite yellow) If someone else has tips in this area - please post!

You can do it without getting everything to cool, but I don't recommend it...especially if you are working an ice cream party for a group of three year olds! It's much better to start with a completely chilled mix and then you end up with ice cream you can actually eat right away rather than something soupy that you have to work with on your own.

It makes the ice cream fluffy, smooth, and we have come to love it this way. I just do an even substitution and then if it feels like it needs more - add it.
