Description
ColumbiaCitizen Listserv is dedicated to encouraging community dialogue on issues that face the residents of Columbia, Missouri and questions they would like answers to. Its a place to ask and receive answers on how to use the services of the city government; to share what is happening in the city and to learn what the City Council and City Hall are doing relative to the administration of city business.
This is a place to find help with problems and concerns you as a citizen have or have had with the city government, city services and to share with others where you have received help.
Topics of interest include open and transparent government, development & planning, proposed tax increases to pay for parks, ice rinks, new roads, land-use, preservation, and conservation.
What are good policies to manage growth for the City?
Does the City have a Master Plan? Other topics will include street construction, traffic, parking, water pipes, and crime in the city. Events or meetings the City government is sponsoring for the public can be posted.
ColumbiaCitizens can express and dialogue for advocacy --such as a community-based grassroots approach to working hand in had with the City for policy making for the benefit of all residents with the resident's input, and others can dialogue for a centrally-run city with no input from residents.
The listserv is open to concerns about Columbia's local schools, public safety, city disasters such as a tornado, a summer drought, and national issues like Hurricane Katrina that affect us locally. Neighborhood, Homeowner Associations and their respective leaders are encouraged to post information on happenings in their area and to assist those who want to start associations.
It's also a place where we hope to have a true, ongoing dialogue not just with ourselves, but with our city leaders. We hope they come to the site and see what we're talking about, and we truly hope they engage in the issues on ColumbiaCitizens.
