Rather than clean it, you may as well just replace it. I believe you can still buy that rubrail insert from someone. I recall a few years ago on this list

Removing the rub rail how?
Does anyone know how to remove the rub rail off my 26MKII? It needs a thorough cleaning and painting; lots of crud, old sealant, so I'd like to disassemble it,

anchor roller?
Has anyone put a roller on the bow for stowing an anchor? We have a Danforth, but I'd like to get the boat set up to carry an anchor on the bow. What roller

Re: new topsides job
Structurally, it's a plywood box that was added to the existing transom, and faired in. The backstay chain plate still attaches to the original bulkhead.Â
