No, it is not Sanford! :)
WASILLA, Alaska (AP) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former Republican vice
presidential candidate, said Friday she is resigning from office at the end of
the month, raising speculation that she would focus on a run for the White House
in the 2012 race.
Palin made the surprise announcement from her home in suburban Wasilla, Alaska,
on Friday morning. She said she would step down July 26 but did not announce her
plans.

I confess I do feel some respect for her as a result of this decision. Even the
decision to have a child with Down's syndrome took a certain strength of
character (which is not likely to be appreciated on this forum).
Unfortunately, "I can see Russia from my window", something which she never in
fact said, has become her trademark. And facing Obama in 2012 would take
enormous talent and luck. He is the strongest presidential candidate we have
had in a long time, and if he loses to Palin in 2012, it would ironically be to
George Bush's credit. Bush made such a hash of things even Obama might not be
able to fix them, and a scared and worried public might then turn to the
Republicans.
