Scott and I will be onsite at the Center for Oneness this Saturday from 9 to 5 to meet and greet visitors to the Open House. We belatedly realized that it would be much more powerful if there are Clearlight members besides ourselves meeting new people and talking about what we do. So we're inviting you to come join us as hosts if you feel so inclined. If you do, come for an hour or two during the course of the day. There may be lots of visitors, great! But if not, we get to enjoy your company! (And you can always visit Suburban Square for holiday shopping.)
Thanks in advance. It's a fun way to serve sentient beings.
I thought I would take this opportunity to say Hi to you all and let you know that you are constantly in my thoughts. Altho I have not been very successful in attaching to the local sangha due to my lack of total fluency, I was quite successful in my finding and being part of the Oneness people here! Not only that, I was able to complete the prelevel 1 course that is now the prerequisite for Level I training. It was an intense weekend retreat with a lot of hard work (even harder for me with my limited Spanish and no interpreter!)....but fortunately the videos were in English with spanish subtitles, therefore improving my Spanish as well as my posture towards oneness! Amazingly, they had 9 Diksha givers and about 40 participants. Can you believe 9 Diksha givers? I'm still trying to understand how such a poor country could have so many Diksha givers that had been either to India or to Italy....and they were all from the region....Nonetheless I am grateful for all those blessings and this time I was able to tell the difference in me the next day! I hope you all can do this workshop. It was very powerful. I also thought it was ironic (and probably not by accident) that some of my sangha sisters were on retreat themselves! You were in my meditations.
I have included the photos from the retreat. Nice place, eh? But remember, it's springtime here.....

“Retreat is the most important gift we can give ourselves. It is through intensive practice that we deepen our experience of our essential nature. Nothing can replace this.”
Spiritual awakening is waking up from the dream of being the separate, solid, person you think you are and discovering your true nature, an ineffable awareness that is simultaneously both oneness and no-thingness.
Awakening at the level of the mind involves releasing all conceptual orientations. This brings the collapse of the separate self created in the mind by thought.
Awakening at the level of the heart is no longer identifying with passing emotions as oneself. The heart is experienced as love and acceptance of what is.
Awakening at the level of the gut, is the opening of the clenched fist, the most primitive, existential sense of self.
In this retreat we will explore what it means to embody our true nature and to share that embodiment through meditation, dialogue, and exercises.
Readings from The End of Your World by Adyashanti will support our process.
As we have said before, we consider the retreat an essential part of any course you are taking. We strongly encourage all of you to attend this retreat in its entirety. However, if this is absolutely not possible, you can attend part of the retreat. Please let us know in advance if that is the case. Because of the difficult economic times, we have tried to keep the cost down as much as possible.
Please bring a yoga mat and meditation cushion if you would prefer to sit on a cushion. We will practice some form of movement as a part of the retreat.Bring your lunch or eat at the nearby farmers market or restaurants.

The attached document has details about this event.
I just wanted to share with you the sad news that my father, George Lincoln, passed away this past Thursday morning. This is a time of sadness for me, but mixed with some happiness that he is no longer suffering through the difficulties of his long period of illness and decline. Scott and I have been practicing with him, and appreciate your loving kindness, tonglen and rigpa practices including him in your thoughts. He was a very dear man.
If you are so inclined - I love you all - we are having a memorial service for him in the chapel at St. David's Episcopal Church this coming Friday October 23rd at 2:00 p.m. (across from MLUC where Adyashanti's program took place). You are all most welcome to attend this and the reception that will follow. And as is said, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Haverford School, Haverford, Pa in his name.
Thanks for all the wishes and prayers and e-mails you have sent. And see you on Monday (or over the airwaves).
I just wanted to let you know that my father, George Lincoln, passed away peacefully yesterday morning with my brother present, and the family with him shortly thereafter. I appreciate all your kind wishes over the last several days since he has been in hospice care - and I would be grateful if you would hold him in your minds as you practice over the next several days. It is helpful to hold the peaceful loving space of awareness for a person's journey, and also to send loving kindness or practice tonglen. Knowing his name and naming him is also what's usually done to direct your intention to him. A person's consciousness in this state is very open and accessible and they really do benefit from the energy of your meditation.
I know many of you may want to express your support to myself and Scott during this time, but I'd appreciate it very much if you don't call. We are a little overwhelmed and are treasuring the short gaps of peace to rest our minds and meditate with my father who is the important one. Your practice is the kindest thing - and brings me great comfort and happiness that you are all so fantastic in hearts and minds!
The Day-Long Intensive Deepening Your Mindfulness Practice has been cancelled due to a serious illness in the family. We regret the late notice cancellation and are sorry for any inconvenience. This program will be re-scheduled at a later date and you will receive notification. Thanks for your understanding.
We have received word that Mark Edwards, after 4 months on life support, died peacefully in his sleep yesterday morning. The funeral services will be annouced at a later time.
Please inlcude Mark in your meditation and prayers. During this time his consciousness can be positively affected by your lovingkindness and support. Especially if you knew Mark, you can bring him clearly to mind (which can link your mind with his in the Bardo) and "tell him" to look directly at his True Nature and to regard everything that is occuring to him as his own consciousness. Wish him well on his journey and encourage him to enter the clear light. This is the most profound instruction, and one that he was just beginning to explore.
Also, remember that if you are experiencing a lot of sadness/grief, that is really about you not Mark. It does not help Mark. But it may be something that you want to explore for yourself and fully feel separate from meditating on Mark's well being. It's important to clearly discern these two.
May Mark awaken to his essential nature and experience the bliss of release in the Mother Clear Light!
As you know, part of the vision of our new center is to create a more powerful practice environment. In line with this we intend to have monthly one day "Intensives" that will focus on different themes. These will be open to the greater public of meditators in the Philadelphia area and are not intended to be introductory programs but mini-retreats. They will be structured around intensive practice but will also include short talks and some discussion. We will also be including yoga or other mindful physical practices in most Intensives.
We would like to encourage you to participate in these Intensives both for your own continued development but also as leaders and examples to others. And right now, to be honest, we need some more bodies at our first scheduled Intensive THIS SUNDAY, October 11. You should just have received our bulk email reminder about the program. It is called Deepening Your Mindfulness Practice. (You could also read that as Deepening Your Non-Dual Awareness Practice....it becomes what you make it.)
We want to make this as easy and inexpensive for you to do as possible, so as we have offered before, the Intensive on Sunday and selected ones in the future will be available at half the full price to all of you in Level II. Generally that will be $50 for the whole day.
And to encourage you even further, we invite you to participate in PART of the Intensive at a similar pro-rated discount. You can see we really want you to be a part of these programs.
Also, in the spirit of making this easy for you, to Register just send us an email saying you are coming and whether for the whole day or which part. You can sign up right now by emailing office@... !
We hope you can join us this Sunday and in future Intensives as well.
I was wondering if anybody would be willing to help Scott tomorrow night at MLUC. He is teaching an introductory class and needs someone to monitor the recordings. It's very, very easy to do and takes all of 5 minutes to learn. You might be interested coming to an introductory class if you haven't been to one in awhile. We would both appreciate the helping hand.
Hi Level 2 people: this might be of interest to some of you. See you soon!

This retreat will include concurrent content and process components. Content

address distractibility, anxiety, and tension. These skills are particularly
relevant for mindfulness inspired clinicians working in individual or group
contexts.

We are very excited to begin holding classes in our new space! And our Monday night class with all of you will kick off the activities of the new center!! We also look forward to bringing down the blessings into the space with all of you there. We hope to have a formal Space Blessing ceremony once all the work is completed in the front building.
We want to give you some information and suggestions about your arrival on Monday night.
1) Please try toarrive early (by 6:30) so we can give you the grand tour of the property in the daylight and you can appreciate all of its qualities! It is truly a unique and charming architectural wonder. Arriving early will allow us to start class relatively on time. If you can't make it for the tour don't worry, there will be plenty of other times to see the entire property.
2) There are 2 Buildings on the property. One in Front (a large 3 story house converted to office space) and one in Back (a 2 story flat roof studio space.) ClearLight is located IN THE BACK BUILDING!
We will begin the tour with the front building and then go to the back building. If you arrive and no one is in the back building, it means we are in the Front building on the tour. Come find us.
3) PARKING: In general, always park on Sibley Ave. There are usually lots of free parking spaces right on the street. There are a few parking spaces on the new property behind the Front building that will be reserved for staff and handicapped parking. (Don and Helen please park in the lot on the property!)
Should we need it, overflow parking is available at Suburban Square shopping center a half block away. However do NOT park just behind the Farmers Market adjacent to Sibley Ave. There are tow away signs there since that is reserved for employees of the Market.
4) Another reason to come early is that the we have just discovered that there is not much outdoor lighting on the property that is currently working! (Sorry, we moved in less than 48 hours ago and it takes a while to learn how things work, or rather how they don't....) We will get this fixed as soon as possible but it would be a good idea for now to bring a flashlight for making your way from the back building to the street. The neighborhood itself is lit and is very safe. Not to worry.
Hi all -
Hope everyone is great! Looking forward to seeing some of you next wk
at the new center!
Can someone provide me with the URL link for the summer audio
recordings? I believe I already have the username and password.
Thanks much and see you soon!
Joanne A.
We hope you have enjoyed your summer and that your meditation practice is flourishing!
We have 2 important announcements to share with you:
1. Firstly, we are very happy to announce that for the first time Clearlight has a permanent place of its own. We have signed a lease for a wonderful space in Ardmore and are moving in September 26 just before for our Fall programs begin! We hope you share our excitement and invite you to join us in creating a powerful center for awakening. We can raise the consciousness of the Mainline and surrounding Philadelphia area.
To maintain a relationship with the community in the western Main Line, we plan to continue offering introductory classes at the Main LineUnitarianChurch in Devon. But most of our classes will now move to Ardmore. The new center is conveniently located a half block from Suburban Square shopping center.
So what can we tell you? The name of the center will be: The Center for Oneness - Healing and Enlightening Body, Mind, Heart and Spirit. It is intended to be a multi-purpose facility shared with like-minded people to offer many holistic services beyond what ClearLight alone provides. To give some examples, this may include yoga, daily group meditation, chi gong, contemplative arts, Ayurvedic medicine, massage therapy, acupuncture, psychological counseling, spiritual coaching, energy healing, and retail products to serve health and well-being. You will be invited to our Grand Opening later this Fall! Please get out the word! Tell your family and friends about the new center!
2. Secondly, we want to let you know that the Fall program is now published on our website. The Level II class is called The Embodiment of Awakening and will run for 12 weeks. Please go to our web site www.ClearLightMeditation.org for the course description and the new instructions for registration (remember there is a discount to register early). We are continuing to structure these classes in the format called 'satsang', which means coming together in truth. The format itself is a powerful vehicle for waking up, and encourages each one of us to open in the moment to share and support each other in our awakening process. There is a real maturity that has developed in this sangha that continues to deepen as we commit ourselves more deeply. Please join us on this mutual journey.
We look forward to serving you on your path of meditation and personal growth.
Attached is an invitation to our Farewell Party for Alicia Karr. Alicia is moving to Argentina. All of Level 2 is invited (even if you don't know Alicia!) We hope to see you there.
I set up a Facebook Profile where I can post my pictures, videos and events and I want to add you as a friend so you can see it. First, you need to join Facebook! Once you join, you can also create your own profile.
clearlight-level2@yahoogroups.com was invited to join Facebook by Ju Lee Tay. If you do not wish to receive this type of email from Facebook in the future, please click here to unsubscribe. Facebook's offices are located at 1601 S. California Ave., Palo Alto, CA 94304
This is a reminder that the Level 2 six week summer course begins this Monday evening!
It is a continuation of the spring class based on Adyashanti's book, The End of Your World. This is especially relevant since Adya is here in Philadelphia Friday and Saturday! We strongly encourage all of you to go. It will energize your practice and inspire you. And then we can share that energy together ( and with those who cannot attend his teaching) as we use his book as a guide to work on our own awakening.
Peace and Blessings,
Nancy and Scott
If you are interested in a ticket to see Adyashanti on July 11 from 12:00 - 6:00 - my sister has a ticket she cannot use and is willing to sell it at a discount. If interested call Beth Reilly at 610.644.4712

At the last retreat a few weeks ago, Scott wrote some instructions for
meditation on the white board. Had instructions for working with thoughts,
emotions, and pain in the body.
Does anyone have this? Scott or Nancy, do yo have this typed up by any chance?
I forgot to write it down.
Thanks,
Andrew
I wanted to let you know that Linda is still trying to recover from her knee surgery, and to ask you all to send her some strong positive healing energy. I don't have all the details but I do know that Linda had to be hospitalized last week due to an infection. She is home again now and would love to have her sangha's good intentions in her corner as she focuses on recovery. If you'd like to send Linda a message her email address is aridfishing@....
Richard Brady forwarded your message about not being able to open the attached flyer. This version is compatible with both PCs and Macs, provided you have Adobe, to open a pdf format. Please let me know if youre still having trouble with this one, and well see what we can do.
Thank you for passing it on to your local sanghaexactly the sort of outreach assistance we are hoping for.
In Peace,

Does anyone have info / recommendations to give me?
I will be in Boulder, CO in May for a family event, and am interested to see if I can arrange to do a long (~week) retreat out there (or thereabouts) the last week of May or 1st week of June. I'd hoped there might be something at Shambhala Mountain Center, but there isn't at that time. I don't think I'm ready for a self-guided retreat; I'd like the structure of an organized program.
If you are aware of anything that might be worth checking into, or if you are tapped into any retreat list sites or resources; please let me know.
