Classical Homeschoolers of the Silicon Valley is an all-inclusive support group for those following the classical homeschooling education model of "The Well Trained Mind" (Jessie Wise and Susan Bauer) or similar methods (e.g. Hirsch, Bennett, Mason). This is an open, courteous, exchange of ideas which must not become commercialized or dominated by any one perspective, excepting the common denominator of an interest in classical education.
Anyone may participate in these online discussions, but our group has a local focus in meetings each Thursday at 10:00AM in San Jose, CA, for free information exchanges, education and activities. We meet at 3800 Blackford Ave, Room 7C. For directions and a map, click to http://www.schoolofchoice.com/enrichment/map.shtml.
The School of Choice ISP supports this FREE group with classrooms, a library, children's entertainment and playground facilities. It provides ISP registration assistance, but parents who register anywhere, and whose children are of any age, race, gender or creed are most welcome, as are educators who value classical education.
Contact Robert at 408-266-3300, email homeschool@schoolofchoice.com, or check out www.schoolofchoice.com/enrichment/homeschool.shtml.
The young gentleman in the photo, Julius Talyansky, is an ninth grade homeschooler who just read thousand page books like War and Peace and Hitler and Stalin in preparation for College-level AP exams. He also stars in musical and leads paintball teams. We believe that a classical education will create more like him--if that is possible.
