I have a Kraft Series 80 TX that I use with a Zagi flying wing. It was slope WX here yesterday so I took the Zagi out to play. While flying I found that the elevator trim was irratic. This morning I tore the stick assembly out of the TX. It has a face plate and four screws just like the old Dunham sticks. The trim pot is secured with four tabs that can be bent outward to release the top cap. I discovered that the trim pot is wire wound and I thought that it had gone bad. However, on examination I found that the wiper was very dirty. The dirt wasn't on the tip where I'd expected. Instead it was on the contact ring. I used a Q-tip and tuner cleaner to completely clean the wiper, wire resistor and all the interior parts. The wire resistor lays like a cylinder around the inside rim of the pot instead of being flat as with composition types. It's hard to see and to clean but showed no bad wear spots. After blowing out the innards with some air I put the whole thing back together and it works like new. The TX was purchased in 2001 from Ebay and has been used hard ever since. It's amazing that this gear was designed to have such a long service life. Phil Kraft would be proud. vy 73, Pete WW3O
