Hi, Roxane,
I can put you up. I have plenty of floor space, or you could
sleep on the massage table. (No sofa, though.)
This will only work if you are not allergic to cats and can deal
with my VERY late hours (I sleep from 3:30 am to 11:00 am and
need you out by Noon on Sunday because I have a client at 1:00
pm).
Can you consider Sunday night to Monday as a possibility? I
could put you up that night, too, and we might get more people
to come to the beach on Monday if we announce it at the jam on
Sunday. Do you already have other plans for Monday?
E-mail me your phone number privately, and we'll work out the
details: andreasea@...
Blessings,
Andrea

Hi everyone.
I'd come out for a beach jam on Saturday night if someone could put me up
over night so that I don't have to drive back and forth again for the jam on
Sunday. I have an air mattress and sleeping bag, so all I'd need is some
floor space.

as for eating meat...is it possible that carnivores could go for 36 hours without flesh? I mean, i'm not a veggie, but i think i can do it...there are some restaruants within 20-30 minutes i believe, and also stores, but i am quite sure it is NOT ok to cook meat in the kitchen there, though i could be wrong...i will ask about this
i'm glad folks are interested...let's bring it up at closing circle

Hello Contacters,
Anyone up for dancing on the beach this Memorial Day weekend? A
little local jam for those who didn't make it to Harbin....
Evenings are cooler, we're thinking Saturday the 24th or Monday the
26th, 5:00 pm to Sunset at the beach at the end of Ocean Park Blvd.
John has directions.... John, can you just post the directions here?
Reply to the list, and we'll pick the day that most people can go.
Andrea
maybe if it started with dinner friday nite and the major jam event on
saturday with minor events on friday nite and sunday morning. then the
sleep over could be optional. some peopel could come for the whole
thing, some just for the day on saturday? just considering options....
rajendra
I'm definitely interested, I'm up for trying it out....
And it depends on the timing for me also. Most of my weekends
in June are already booked (Polarity classes), and then we'll be
into the hot months, and desert in the summer could be a bit
much.
Are there any restaurants nearby for meat eaters? Or is there a
kitchen facility, at least a refrigerator?

Hi I think the jam idea is great but maybe more realsitic if it
was a sat & sun so just one night maybe even sat eve til sun as
a starter. People always are so busy and it might be good to
start off small and grow with peoples interest etc, many people
have not had the opportunity to jam for more than a few hours,
so even 24 or 36 is a good start with the added bonus of nice
location and some hot tubs etc. I would be up for it. depends on
the time of year.
Another thing is this egroup is not very large in terms of
testing the water for the idea
so the lack of response does not neccessarily indicate lack of
interest.
what does anyone think?

i dont know if we could attract more than 20, but that's kind of a small jam...also, it's a far way to drive if we just end up jamming with each other in a not-so-great-space, you know? Plus, the yoga folks that run the place can be kind of weird. I don't know...i don't know...
how about this: Who out there is interested in a 3-4 day jam, cost about 150 bucks, 80 minutes east of san diego, beautiful environment, dorm accomodations (one big room for everyone, camping a possibility) a dance space that's smaller than dancehome and not as nice a floor, really good vegetarian food, steamroom and hottubs?

I agree, thanks for thinking about it Andrea!
A few things have been done already, and I would appreciate ideas (and
maybe even some help!) in the following:
- getting Sarah Swenson to list this board on her mailings
- designing and printing a flier for this board and posting it on the
SMDH (Santa Monica Dance Home) BB (Bulletin Board) as well distributing
it at EOJs (end-of-jams)
- any other ideas on getting existing and potential contact dancers to
sign on to Ci-LA?
What's been done thus far:
- emailed Sarah Swenson three times asking to list Ci-LA. No response.
Is there ever a response? :-)
- posted links to Ci-LA on other relevant Yahoo Groups (NYC, Boulder CO,
AZ, etc.)
- Yahoo Groups already lists Ci-LA when you search for "Contact
Improv" - so that's good news.
Would anyone be willing to put together a flier for Ci-LA? Nothing
fancy - just to let people know it's there and what it is for.
Best,
Alexei

Contact dancing is of course a smoke- and alcohol-free environment, not
to mention barefoot, but nobody said anything about cocaine... So when
is that shipment coming? :-P
Alex.

Hey everyone,
Welcome and thanks for subscribing.
A few opening questions.
Group's Image or photo. Does anyone have a good image, drawing,
photo (preferably not copyrighted), for this group's home page? If
not, we could ask one of us (e.g. Andrei or Molly) to dig up a good
photo.
Group's description. Please take a look at the text on the home
page, and if you have suggestions what to change, add, or remove, or
maybe you have an entirely different text, please come forward.
Group's name. Is everyone OK with "Ci-LA"? "ContactDanceLA" was also
suggested, and while "Ci-LA" isn't as descriptive, it is short,
sweet, easy on the tongue, and by mere coincidence, means "strength"
and "power" in Russian -- pronounced "see-luh" ... :-P We can still
change the name to anything else so if you have suggestions - please
come forward.
"Files" and "photos" areas! You have to have a Yahoo ID to be able
to use them, and it may be worth it: if you have any pictures of
yourself, or any contact dance, please upload them in the "Photos"
area.
That's it for now and again - thank you for supporting the idea of
this "virtual cafe".
Alexei "Alex" G.
