Facilitated by Heather Rhea Dawn- "Our soul shines bright when let go and let
the dance, dance us. This is where the sacred, sexy and wild explodes into
being."
Fascia: the three dimensional web of connective tissue that
runs continuously from a thick layer just under your skin into the mysterious
depths of your body. Fascia weaves a network of interwoven membrane around
every muscle, organ, bone and cell.
Accessing this incredibly intelligent system in our dance
opens a world of specificity, subtlety, and increased kinetic potential. We
will traverse the range, from witnessing and following the delicate unwinding
of the tissues, to finding incredible support for dynamic flight, elastic
buoyancy and the creation of countless hidden shelves. Join me in researching
this endlessly fascinating realm.
Daniel Bear Davis is a recent transplant from the SF Bay
Area. He has been teaching and dancing CI for 10 years. He utilizes the form in
his dance theatre company, Shah and Blah Productions as well as in acrobatic
stilt theatre work with The Carpetbag Brigade He has been influenced by
his study of Axis Syllabus: Universal Motor Principles and by his massage practice.
He has also been influenced by the countless bizarre apparatuses and
architectures he has performed on including construction scaffolding, boulders
in the desert, the walls of a boat, a submarine, a suspended welded sphere, and
many more.
Maesyn Muse will imbue our LA/Santa Monica Contact improve Jam with her magical musical improv textures!
For those of you not familiar with her music, you are truly in for something truly special! You can check her out at: http://www.myspace.com/maesyn
(and her musical biography is at the bottom of the page)
The jam runs from 6:30 - 9:00pm, with Maesyn's musical weavings joining our dance tapestry around the last hour of the jam. (similar to format Richard use to observe)
The Jam is at Dance Home in Santa Monica.
Dance Home is located on the south side of the street at 522 Santa Monica Blvd. between 5th and 6th Streets in Santa Monica, upstairs from Radio Shack.
Amazin" Maesyn is a modern Muse and a force of nature. Her artistry encompasses a broad spectrum of natural talents. She is a wildly electric, sensually eclectic violinist, vocalist, and songwriter.
The music from her debut album, "Now.here!" is an amalgamation of funky grooves, sultry passionate vocals, orchestral musicality, sophisticated lyricism, and inspirational esotericism.
Maesyn is best known for her improvisational spontaneity, lush resonant vocals, playfully passionate violin, and exotic full body shakti.
Classically trained on violin since the age of 4, Maesyn composes all of her own orchestration, and thrives on improvisation. She fronts her own band, and also has performed for thousands with artists such as Matisyahu, Killa Priest (Wu Tang Clan). She spent a year fronting the conscious hip-hop band, Luminaries.
Maesyn grew up in a household of musicians, playing in the family band. She began her classical training at age 4, playing violin in baroque ensemble and orchestra. Her father was a folk musician, and as a young child she'd jump on stage with his band to sing and fiddle.
Having spent years in a cappella groups, she loves to harmonize and beatbox. Quoth she, "There is no union more blissful than merging in harmonic vibrational frequency!!"
In certain forests and the occasional airport lobby, Maesyn is notorious for her perpetual , wickedly dexterous whistle. She whistles arias, concertos, Bob Marley tunes, arpeggios ... cell phone rings.
Maesyn's live performance is the essence of her existence. She melts into the music and becomes one with it.
Maesyn is currently in the studio recording her new album.
Maesyn is passionately dedicated to deprogramming societal conditioning, and using her psyche as a canvas to create art's manual for self-liberation.
She sings, writes poetry, whistles, percusses, plays violin, guitar, and a wee bit of piano. MUSIC IS LIFE. And so it is. Amazin" Maesyn is a modern Muse and a force of nature. Hm, it's tough but I would go with orange. I think facial expression is pretty intregal to contact. Plus, the floor makes the space look way too cool.

They both look great! very noce wirk. Given that Emma's hand kinda disapears in in a strange way in the blue/white one, I'll vote for the orange/beige flyer.
Again, Very Nice.
