Eyes Of Elisha
Brandilyn Collins
Zondervan
2001 - 388 pages
Paperback

Chelsea Adams has a vision in which she sees the death of a young woman. When she comes back to consciousness after that vision, she looks into the eyes of a dinner guest and experiences a terrifying moment of recognition. She’s certain that he is the murderer of the young woman in her vision. Plenty of twists and turns of plot right up until the end of this edge-of-your-seat thriller.

The Duet
Robert Elmer
WaterBrook
2004 - 304 pages
Paperback

Four Hands. Two Hearts. One Song.
When widower Gerrit Appeldoorn takes his granddaughter to piano lessons one day, he finds himself drawn to her music teacher: a woman unlike any he has known. It’s an unlikely attraction. He’s a retired dairyman with mud on his boots; Joan Horton is a world traveler and former piano instructor at New York’s most prestigious academy of music. Not quite “beauty and the beast,” but close.
Even so, Gerrit slowly begins to open his heart: to Joan, to music, to the possibilities that may be found in both. Yet as their relationship deepens, Gerrit faces crises concerning his family and farm, while Joan confronts a dark secret that threatens her future. While coping with these challenges, neither can predict how their duet will sound as they practice the music of renewed hope and second chances.

Dear Fans of Christian Fiction:

Please forgive how soon this second newsletter is to the HOT OFF THE PRESS release.  With Brad Whittington’s imminent author chat this coming weekend I couldn’t leave it any longer before releasing.  Future editions should see everything included in one newsletter, so you should only see one despatch per month from now on, as it used to be.

As always, visit http://christianfiction.ne1.net for more recent releases, coming releases, book reviews, author profiles, and author interviews.

Blessings,

Ellie

Hi everyone, Happy New Year!

In addition to the monthly HOT OFF THE PRESS notifications, I am beginning monthly website update notifications also.  Each month the Christian Fiction Site will have four spotlight author profiles, and possibly other happenings as well.

In this newsletter:

  1. January’s Spotlight Author Profiles
  2. The new Adopt-An-Author Club

1.    January’s Spotlight Author Profiles

Author of the Lake Emily series, and the editor behind many of today's best-selling novelists.

Rene Gutteridge

Author of Ghost Writer, Troubled Waters, Boo and Boo Who, among others.

Mark Andrew Olsen

  • Ted Dekker
  • Traci DePree

2. The New Adopt-An-Author Club

Introducing the new Adopt-An-Author Club, which enables members to interactively participate in keeping the Christian Fiction Site up-to-date with information relevant to their favourite Christian novelists.  As a member, you can become a “Tracker” of your favourite author(s) and notify the editorial team of the Christian Fiction Site when you find an upcoming release that has yet to be listed, any errors in those already listed, new interviews with authors that aren’t already linked from the Site, any redundant links, and many other such relevant items.  You can choose up to five authors to help “track”.  If you are an author of CBA fiction and would like to help by keeping track of your own title listings, interviews, and other links, then by all means, do so!

To join, simply send an email to: adoptanauthor-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Or visit: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/adoptanauthor/

    TIME LOTTERY - Nancy Moser {Barbour}

    What would you do with a chance to go back in time and change something in your past? Have you made choices that you wish you could reverse? "began Alexander MacMillan, representing TTC.

    "They will be transported back in time, into an Alternate Reality--their Alternity--armed only with their hopes, their dreams, and a thousand good intentions. And then, after exploring the way their life could have been for one week, they will be given the ultimate choice.
    "During one hour of total clarity, they will be able to assess both alternatives: the way their life played out the first time, and the way it played out through the miracle of the Time Lottery. They will get to choose between staying in the past--continuing their life with the consequences of their new choice--or returning to their place in the present with a life made richer from the experience."     Callie's current assignment takes her to North Carolina's Smokey Mountains to research two charities serving migrant apple pickers. Asteroids are on a crash course toward earth, locust-like insects inflict terrible pain on mankind, and a generalized madness infects the world's population, spawning horrific violence.     CADENCE (American Anthem #2) - B.J. Hoff {Nelson W}

    Cadence reunites us with Andrew Carmichael, an inner city physician, and his partner in practice, Bethany Cole, one of the first female physicians in America, who share a desire to serve the poor with their healing skills and with love. As the story continues, they discover that they share more than a professional passion--they share a love for each other.

    Set in late nineteenth century New York City and the surrounding Hudson River Valley, and incorporating the beginnings of American gospel music, Cadence continues the saga of the courageous immigrants who helped build our nation, the struggles they endured, and the music they created, lived and loved by.

    THE FALL - Kirsten Lasinsky {Moody}

    Consuming story of one man's dramatic path to redemption. Plagued by memories of the bizarre accident that killed his father, Morris Jackson often wonders if he's to blame. When he begins to dream of the idyllic Garden of Eden, he finds himself developing constant disdain for the harsh reality of his inner-city life. As his real and dream lives collide, a series of disturbing events propel Morris into a downward spiral toward violence and despair. But when his Christian friends risk their lives to demonstrate a love that forgives all offenses, Morris begins to see himself and others for what they really are: sinners in need of the Savior. Features gritty scenery; engaging, complex characters; and a profound message of sacrificial love. Inner-city setting gives The Fall a unique position in the Christian fiction market. Moving portrait of God's compassionate pursuit of sinners.

    THE ACCUSED (Chambers of Justice #3) - Craig Parshall {Harvest}

    A honeymoon in Cancun. What could be more romantic? But the happiness of attorney Will Chambers and his wife, Fiona, is ambushed by two unexpected events: a terrorist kidnapping of a U.S. official...and a phone call telling Will that a link has been found to the previously unidentified murderer of his first wife.

    As the newly married lawyer struggles with these terrible events, one of them thrusts him into a new legal case. A secret U.S. team had tried to thwart the Cancun kidnapping, and the Marine colonel who led it, Caleb Marlowe, has now been court-martialed for the murder of unarmed civilians--disavowed and hung out to dry by the White House.

    At the mercy of international politics, Marlowe is ping-ponged from a military court to both a Senate subcommittee and the International Criminal Court, with Will arguing his defense. And when the disguise if ripped away from past treachery and callous betrayal, both Will and his client must ask, Is forgiveness real?--or face a debacle ending in bloody vengeance.

    This is a legal thriller that recounts a man's epic confrontation of evil from his past--and reveals the power of God through forgiveness.

    THE CANOPY - Angela Elwell Hunt {Nelson W}

    Deep in the lush and dangerous rain forests of Peru, Alexandra Pace and her team search determinedly for a cure for deadly diseases. One strain of the disease has already begun the process of ravaging Alexandra's own mind and body. Finding a cure is the only hope for her and for her daughter, who has almost certainly inherited the same disease.

    Alex believes she is searching for a needle in a haystack until she meets Michael Kenway, a British doctor who lost his wife when "mad cow disease" ravaged Britain in the 1990's. He presents her with an incredible story--a patient suffering from the disease was cured by a mythical "healing tribe" living deep in the Amazon jungle. Reluctantly placing her faith in Michael, who is entirely too religious for her comfort, Alexandra and her team seek out an unreached indigenous group who may hold the cure not only for Alex, but also for the world.

    Award-winning, best-selling author Angela Hunt combines the unique rainforest setting, modern science, and a thrilling race for a cure into a powerful message of faith and redemption.

    Terri Blackstock

They've been told all their lives that their stepmother, Amanda, has stolen their money. And they can't wait for the day when they can sue her for everything and leave their sad, comfortless life behind.

    But then Amanda arrives with gifts and an amazing story--and an even more unbelievable offer--and everything the twins have ever known goes out the window. She says that she's always loved them. But now she wants the twins to come live with her. She wants them to have their full inheritance.

    Which is a problem, especially for the suspicious Kara. When all you've known is deprivation, how can you believe a gift of grace? When you've been lied to for so long, how can you ever know the truth?

    The Shadow Women
    Angela Elwell Hunt

    Almost from the moment Moses is plucked from the Nile in his tiny ark of papyrus, the lost Hebrew seeks his calling. Although raised as a favored prince and future leader in Pharaoh's grand palace, he grows to reject his adopted father's ruthless rule and deities. And all along his life's journey, the women close to his heart provide nurturance, constancy, and allegiance--risking all for the love of this powerful man.

    Merytamon: Fearing her barrenness and encouraged by her own mother, the sensitive Egyptian princess secretly adopts the baby she finds. Her love for her son is unequivocal--but the lie she lives ultimately leads to exile from all she holds dear.

    Miryam: Known for her boldness and her pride, Moses' Hebrew sister speaks what she thinks, eats with the men, and fears few. After a miraculous reunion with her brother, she takes up the mantle of leadership until her anger--so much like Moses'--leads to a soul-searching encounter with a living God.

    Zipporah: For the young Bedouin Moses calls his Brave Shepherdess, it is love at first sight. As she becomes Moses' student, his wife, and the mother of his sons, Zipporah lays bare the truths of the man who alters the course of her life.

    An enthralling, heartbreaking portrait of unwavering love and transcendent belief set against a vivid historical landscape, The Shadow Women is the first account ever to show Moses--his deeds, his life, and his epoch--through the unflinching eyes of women. 384 pages, hardcover from Warner. Captain Cole Parker has spent the last year fighting fires, investigating arsons--and falling in love with Rachel. When a flood surges through their community, it's a chance in the midst of tragedy to spend some precious time together.

    And Rachel is caught in the crossfire.
    Rachel knows one of the injured students, a child who died, and the shooter. She's struggling to do her job even as she copes with her own trauma. And Rachel fears a third tragedy will soon follow unless Cole and the O'Malleys can solve a murder still hidden by the floodwaters . . . 322 pages, softcover from Multnomah. Read an excerpt
