Here is updates on my last two prayer request.

First:  Doug Engelking (my sister's father - in - law) passed away late this
afternoon.  Please keep his family in prayer to help them get through their
loss.

Also received the following update on the prayer request I received from my
cousin:

Miracles!  Melvin Charles is off of life support, and
breathing on his own.  He is still very critical, but
improving slightly every day it seems.  When they did
an endoscopy on him yesterday, Hollie said his heart
rhythm was very erratic, and his heartbeat was very
fast.  So, the docs are concerned about that.

Val had his surgery last Friday.  When they got him
into surgery they found that the stint was not
collapsed after all!  They flushed all five stints,
and let him come home the next day.  He was having
severe gastric reflux that was causing all of his
chest pain. I'm not sure what was causing the problems
with the EKG's.  Anyway, he is really blessed!

Subject: two prayer requests

My daughter just called and asked me to contact all of
my "praying friends."
The husband of my daughter's teaching partner has just
been airlifted to Brackenridge Hospital, and is on
life support.  The gentleman's name is Melvin Charles;
his wife is Ellen Charles.  All of Melvin's friends
just refer to him as "Charles"--instead of using his
real first name.
"Charles" had a gall stone that blocked a duct, which
in turn caused him to develop severe pancreatitis.  He
had been in a small town hospital until a few hours
ago...suddenly his kidneys began failing, and then he
stopped breathing.  At that point he was put on life
support and airlifted to Brack.  The doctors have told
Ellen that he has only a slim chance of survival, but
Ellen knows that God can heal him.  A huge group of
Ellen's fellow teachers have gone to Austin to pray
with her throughout the night, and she asked them to
call upon all of their friends and families to help
get a prayer chain started ASAP.
I hope that you will all join us in praying for
Charles.  Ellen has been a wonderful friend and prayer
partner for our daughter--our daughter says that Ellen
is one of the strongest Christians she has ever known;
so please help us lift her husband up in prayer.

Next request...one of my friends from our campus is
having surgery at the Heart Hospital tomorrow (Friday)
morning.  His name is Val Cardenas, and he has had
five stints put in his heart before.  The last stint
was implanted just a few months ago, but it has
collapsed.  Val also has diabetes, which makes his
surgery and recovery more dangerous.  He is a
wonderful man who always maintains a smile and a
positive attitude...no matter what he is facing.
Please joing me in praying for Val, and his wife,
Janie, during both his surgery, and his recovery.
(By the way, Val is only in his late forties!)

I have an update on a prayer request.  Doug Engelking, my sister's father - in -
law, is not doing good at all.  The cancer is spreading fast, but he is also
having heart problems.  He was for the last week in ICU but they have sent him
home over the weekend with the knowledge he might have a week to live.  They
said his heart will probably give out before the cancer take totally over.  The
prayer is for all of Doug's family, but especially for my 2 nephews who is
having to go through this again with their grandfather just 7 months after
losing their grandmother (my mom).  Also pray that Doug is able to go through
this last stage of his live with as little pain as possible.  Thank you, Patty
