Dear friends,
the following email was sent to me by a young nurse from Brackenridge whom I am preparing, together with her fiance, for her upcoming marriage. If you might be able to help out with any of the mentioned items from your attic or storage, please let me know.
thanks,

Dear Friends and Family,
I had a patient come last night that lost everything in a tragic fire last week. I am making it my quest this season to help them as much as I can. She is 31 weeks pregnant and she has 6 other children. I was hoping to collect some donations to help them out. There are 5 girls sizes 10,7,5 and (two)4. There is also size 7 boy and there will be a newborn boy. The mom is size large for tops and medium for pants and size 7.5 shoes and the dad is a size medium for tops size 32 bottom and size 9 shoes. They have nothing at this point so any hand me downs would be greatly appreciated. They also need things for the house, furniture, blankets, kitchen stuff, etc. I am also planning on buying Christmas presents for all the children so gift cards or money would help as well. As I was taking care of her last night the Lord was tugging at my heart and I feel so honored to have this amazing opportunity. May God warm you heart this holiday season as much as he has mine.
Love,
Jen

Hi All,
please remember that we have our congregational Christmas party this Friday beginning at 6:30pm in our fellowship hall. This is a wonderful time to fellowship with your fellow members of Christ, and to bring along guests also. We will have a movie for the children, and games and carols and such for all those who are interested. There will not be a gift exchange, but folks are encouraged to bring in items for our sack lunch program (fruit cups and single serving food items are needed, as well as warm socks/gloves/blankets).
You are encouraged to bring a food item to share and to join us for this fun evening.
God bless,
Pastor john

Hey folks,
we need about 8 homes to welcome one of the Jews for Jesus singers into their homes... 4 homes for Sunday night and 4 for Monday night. If we don't have any volunteers we will need to put them up in a hotel. Given our current financial situation that is not adviseable... and given that God calls us to be hospitable to others that is not acceptable. I have had only 2 folks come forward willing to host a guest... we need six more. Please contact myself or Jordan if you are willing to help.
thank you

Cathy,
I was wondering if you would email this to the Christ Lutheran congregation. The Easter Triumph will be out there selling sausage wraps, roasted corn, and more to raise money for the production. The Nash family puts this on every year on their land (the Christmas Tree Farm in Elgin). They attend Grace Lutheran in Elgin and are wonderful people.

Hello!
I got a phone call from a lady at my church last Friday morning. I don't really know her all that well, but her son and Douglas graduated the same year. She said she was on Facebook at 1:00 Friday morning and Douglas "instant messaged" her and asked her to call me to let me know he was fine, but wasn't sure when he would get to contact us. I told her she had made my day! Then, Saturday afternoon, someone else called me (I still don't know who it was) and said they were on Facebook and that Douglas asked them to call me and tell me to get on Facebook. Of course, I was at HEB grocery shopping! But as soon as I got home, I got on and "chatted" with him through the computer. (For those that are not familiar with Facebook, it is similar to email.) He said it was 120 degrees on Saturday, and they didn't have water that day so he couldn't take a shower. He said it was awful to try to use a "port-a-john" in that kind of heat! I am glad I can only imagine that feeling! He has mostly been eating at the chow hall and said while it wasn't too bad, it wasn't like my cooking! Again, my day was made! He said it was quiet in Kuwait and that they would be leaving for Iraq in about a week. So, now I get on Facebook everyday to see if he is on at the same time!
That is the latest and greatest news I have for now.
Thank you all for your support, but mostly for prayers!
Love,
Melissa

Dear friends,
by now most of you have probably heard that Rev. John Ellwanger, former pastor of Hope Lutheran Church here in Austin, was called to rest in The Father's arms on Monday. The funeral service will be held on this Friday, Sept. 25, at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Anderson laneat 10am. Please keep Mrs. Ellwanger and her family in your prayers.

Some of you may receive the newsletter email twice. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I had to break up the recipients and send it again because many folks did not get the first sending.
I completely forgot. Since the council
is not meeting this month, I have not looked at any reports.
When Ron comes in to do payroll, have him
call me. He will need to update the GL and then I will have you send me
some reports.

Subject: [ChristAustinPrays] prayers for Pastor Linderman
Dear friends,
I just received word that our dear brother in Christ and former shepherd, Pastor Linderman,
has been diagnosed with a lung cancer. He will undergo more tests next week, but it looks to have entered some of his lymph nodes also. As you might well imagine, this is quite serious. I would ask that you keep both him and Jean as well as their family in your prayers.
As we discussed throughout the summer as we looked at the great stories of the Old Testament in our sermon serious, our God is bigger than anything that this world can throw our way. If God chooses to heal Jim He will be healed. If not, we pray that God would grant him and Jean and all of us the grace to accept His will and to glorify His name regardless.
To send an anonymous message, send an email to: office@... and ask Cathy to post the message to the group anonymously. If you want your prayer request printed in Sunday's announcements, you also need to notify the church office.
I recently visited with the Linderman’s after returning
from Grace-Victoria 2 weeks ago on delivering a sermon to my parents church
about LSSS. He brought back BBQ chickens that my parents were involved in
making for the noon meal. At that time he mentioned he had something in
common with my dad…bladder cancer. Not sure if you all knew that.
Thanks,
Michael Z.
