This group is for the peace vigil in front of the Art Institute of Chicago every Sunday from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. The Art Institute is at 111 South Michigan Avenue.
The peace vigil began in response to the invasion and occupation of Iraq. However, Iraq is not the sole focus of the vigil. Participants influence their fellow countrymen to make peace a priority. Some shine a spotlight on related issues such as the huge and growing US 'Defense' budget causing massive deficits, the neocon agenda of expanding the US empire and US support for Israel without enough pressure to negotiate peace with the Palestinians.
