Description

You've heard the name "Neighborhood Watch," but do you know what the organization does or who is involved in it? Neighborhood Watch is an organization that was created to teach people how to protect themselves from crime and how to work in conjunction with the local Police Department. The goal of the program is crime prevention through community involvement, "neighbor helping neighbor". The program provides the opportunity to meet your neighbors and Cheverly Police Department personnel through Neighborhood Watch meetings.

In 2005, Chief Robshaw combined the Chief’s Advisory Board with Neighborhood Watch to create CPACT, Cheverly Police and Citizens Together as a way to address a wider range community concerns, to find ways to improve the quality of life of all town residents, and to provide the Chief with a "sounding board" to discuss new ideas and develop ways to reduce crime. The Board/Watch usually meets once a month to discuss the current crime situation, to address neighborhood problems, and to seek grant monies to address problems within the community. This important citizen’s group also sponsors Cheverly’s National Night Out, is typically the conduit through which important crime and crime prevention materials are dispersed throughout the town, and also serves to bring neighborhood problems directly to the attention of the Chief of Police.

Any resident wishing to join this group is encouraged to contact the police department at (301) 773-8362 or sent a request thru this group.

Meetings are usually held 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Cheverly Police Department located at 6401 Forest Rd
