the disaster) trackable and has its own icon. It comes with an anniversary
pathtag that does depict the explosion at Lakehurst, New Jersey. Price is $20
set in either Anitque Silver or Satin Silver. Email me at
packerbacker31@...
and I can paypal bill you Shipping is $3.50 unless you want to get a group
together and if enough I will ship a bunch free. thanks, Steve Allen aka MO

I love this idea! A chorus in honor of BGiT!!

I include a wonderful picture of Esther in action as the Professor of Transfiguration last summer during Hogwarts camp ... a small demonstration of how magic she truly is!!

As someone who has lived in both the DFW area and the Austin area, I can tell you that the folks up in the DFW area generally categorize Austin as a bunch of tree huggers. The announced intention of the City of Austin’s PARD to make policies that will limit or ban geocaching even in areas that are not nature preserves seem to validate that opinion. I am not saying this to disparage the people of the Austin area, but I have to wonder what the point of having ‘nature preserves’ is if no one can enjoy them.

Thanks for all that showed up yesterday. 58 raffle tickets were distributed and
given that we had a few people come early or arrive late, I think the overall
attendance was about 65.

The main geocachingaustin.com has been updated with the complete list of
winners, runners up and nominees:
https://sites.google.com/a/geocachingaustin.com/geocaching/geocache-awards/award\
sblog/2011nominees

Congratulations again to all!

Another big thank you to LordBritish for hosting us. Thank you also to the
generous sponsors for the great swag: FTF Geocacher Magazine
(http://www.ftfgeocacher.com/), the Podcacher podcast (http://www.podcacher.com)
and GXProxy.com (http://www.gxproxy.com)

Finally, thank you for participating in the fund raiser to pay for the event
insurance. It was covered in great parts with your generous donations!

See you all next year and in the mean time, please visit the great caches that
were highlighted and hide some even better ones!

Most of the pictures I took came out pretty good. I will be glad to make any or
all of them available. Just email me and let me know which you would like.

I will be sending the best quality shots to FTF Magazine for an article by the

If enough folks want the photos, I'll upload to this group.

I really like all these photos of the happy winners! Of course everyone who caches is a winner, but not everyone gets a coveted glass glob or jar lid!

I finally got my "unofficial" photos uploaded to Flickr this morning. Consider them complementary to these in the "best of" album, from a different point of view.

You can find them at http://www.flickr.com/photos/26452966@N02/sets/72157629846313630/

By the way, I tried to avoid publishing any trackable numbers. I caught them on a car, a tattoo, a name tag, and several shirts. If you find another one, please let me know.

Here is a geolog I posted, and some photos

The sun is a burning thing
And with the moon makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire
We chased that ring of fire

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

To see an eclipse is sweet
Distant rendezvous to meet
From Austin, set course to see
This phenom in totality

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

Initial target is under cloud
Hey, God! Is that allowed?
Reroute both north and west
As we pray, we'll fulfill our quest

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

West, and wester, still
Out in land, with not a hill
New Mexico, well that will do
Barely a cloud to obscure the view

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

Spectacle, to thrill the mind
Ringside seat, yes we did find
Enjoyed the show, till sun was set
No regrets, on that you bet!

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

Well! That ROCKED! Headed out early from the Austin Metro -- our plan was to rendezvous with the path of totality around Lubbock. Only technology (yay SmartPhones & RADAR sites) said THAT was under cloud cover. Bummmer! So we modified our route further West & North, hoping to, in an anti-storm chaser use of technology, get out from under the front. That meant New Mexico. ALMOST dashed all the way to Roswell (that would have been cool), but the path of totality was North of that trajectory. So we veered up the 206 toward Clovis. Found a wonderful large pull out in Pep, just south of Dora with a half hour to spare. Watched the spectacle with great delight (using pinhole projectors -- 3 hole punch paper made quite a show, and doubled up welder's goggles -- steampunk costumery pays off!) until the last little bit of crescent sun dropped below the horizon.

Hotel in Lubbock, so away we go. But, WAIT! there's a county to claim betwixt here and there -- and so we pause in the dark of a lonely road to nab this cache. TreyB had it found before the rest of us got our flashlights working. Whooo!

So a BIG smile to end a fantabulous day. Sweet!

Team WATT (Waterweasel, ACCLanMan, TreyB, & Tygress) chasing the solar eclipse.... and caches!

Help Bastrop State Park Win $100,000
After last years devastating wildfire, recovery is underway. Now theres a way you can help bring Bastrop State Park back from the ashes.
Coca-Cola will provide a $100,000 grant to the park that receives the most votes during its national "America Is Your Park" promotion. While all of our state parks would benefit from the $100,000 grant, rallying around hard-hit Bastrop State Park will give Texas State Parks the best chance to win the cash in this national voting competition.
Vote online at www.livepositively.com/parks and while youre there be sure to register your FourSquare account so you can earn the park 100 votes when you check-in!
Also please tell your family and friends to vote, too, and post a link to the www.livepositively.com/parks on your Facebook and other social media accounts.
You can vote every day for Bastrop State Park up until the deadline of July 15. If we all rally together we can win this for Bastrop State Park!

To see an eclipse is sweet
Distant rendezvous to meet
From Austin, set course to see
This phenom in totality

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

Initial target is under cloud
Hey, God! Is that allowed?
Reroute both north and west
As we pray, we'll fulfill our quest

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

West, and wester, still
Out in land, with not a hill
New Mexico, well that will do
Barely a cloud to obscure the view

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

Spectacle, to thrill the mind
Ringside seat, yes we did find
Enjoyed the show, till sun was set
No regrets, on that you bet!

We came chasing a burning ring of fire
The sun sank down
And the moon went higher.
As the earth turns, turns, turns
'Neath the ring of fire
That ring of fire.

Well! That ROCKED! Headed out early from the Austin Metro -- our plan was to rendezvous with the path of totality around Lubbock. Only technology (yay SmartPhones & RADAR sites) said THAT was under cloud cover. Bummmer! So we modified our route further West & North, hoping to, in an anti-storm chaser use of technology, get out from under the front. That meant New Mexico. ALMOST dashed all the way to Roswell (that would have been cool), but the path of totality was North of that trajectory. So we veered up the 206 toward Clovis. Found a wonderful large pull out in Pep, just south of Dora with a half hour to spare. Watched the spectacle with great delight (using pinhole projectors -- 3 hole punch paper made quite a show, and doubled up welder's goggles -- steampunk costumery pays off!) until the last little bit of crescent sun dropped below the horizon.

Hotel in Lubbock, so away we go. But, WAIT! there's a county to claim betwixt here and there -- and so we pause in the dark of a lonely road to nab this cache. TreyB had it found before the rest of us got our flashlights working. Whooo!

So a BIG smile to end a fantabulous day. Sweet!

Team WATT (Waterweasel, ACCLanMan, TreyB, & Tygress) chasing the solar eclipse.... and caches!

Thanks for sharing Barb, et al. Those were awesome pics, filter and all. I must say though, that the llama was the suspicious one. It didn't have on goggles!!

Howdy!

Well, I didn't want CenTx to be left out of having a local WWFM event and I
hadn't see any posted yet, and the deadline for posting is tomorrow....so I
jumped in feet first to get one in the books!

I am not even sure what we will be doing at this event? I do know that we will
be at the Liz Carpenter Fountains again this year (remember it is near the
Palmer Events Center) and we will be there at noon and only for 15 minutes.
Last year we all sorta hung around and chatted for a long time. I would really
like for us to skeedaddle immediately like we are supposed to.
Maybe someone could have an after-event event somewhere nearby where we can all
go to mingle. Hint, hint!
Let me know if you have an idea of what we could do to make this memorable and
post it here.
I hope to see many of you there. Look for GC3GCE0 to post soon!
