Description

Welcome to the

Carolina & North-Western Railway List

Used to power the Caldwell County Ry., the operator of the north end remnant of the original C&NW, GP16 1747 prepares to pick up the cars dropped off by the Norfolk Southern for the run to Lenoir.  November 2000.

The purpose of this list is to provide a forum for railfans and railroad modelers of the Carolina & North-Western Rwy., and the other lines that the C&NW operated after 1952 (and the lines' later day operators), for sharing information related to these lines... all while working together to keeping the memory of these lines alive.!!!

Expanded by Southern Railway in 1952, the Carolina & North-Western's operations comprised the following lines: The original Carolina & North-Western - Chester, S.C. to Lenoir, N.C., line. Blue Ridge Railway Co. - Seneca to Honea Path, S.C. Danville & Western - Danville, Va. to Eden, N.C. and Fieldale, Va. High Point Randleman Asheboro & Southern - High Point to Asheboro, N.C. Yadkin Railway - Salsibury to Albemarle, N.C. and Badin, N.C.

So climb aboard... I hope that you will enjoy the ride!!!

Modelers:  Check out the Southeastern Model Railroad Forum at: http://smrf.railfan.net/SMRF.  The SMRF list is a great resource available for modelers of Southeast lines.

Frye Grain
Did CWCY lose Frye Grain in Hickory? I went by there today and there were 2 or 3 tractor trailers lined up getting loaded where the rail cars normally would.
